Stressed and Depression Eating

Has anyone ever noticed how hard it is to stay on track with food and exercise when you are stressed and depressed at the same time?
Right now I am trying to finish out the school year and I found out that I need to look for another job. My contract is ending so I'm really stressed about that. Right now all I want to do is eat everything in sight. During a phone interview I ate about 2 snack bags of cheetos and yesterday I ended up eating 5 russell stover sugar free pecan delights :-( Help!!!!
If anyone knows of different ways to deal with or get past the stressing and being depressed please help and let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

My advice???? First know I say this as someone new to this weight loss journey AND having 40 lbs to lose myself.....JOG....I didn't think I could run at all but I started off walking, then it became a run/walk where I ran when I had the energy and walked when I needed to rest. It works off stress and depression for me. I find I run better times when I'm stressed and when you are depressed and you get done you FEEL like you took on the world and beat it. No better feeling than after you are done and you are like "dude...I did it". I literally smile at myself and pump and arm now and then. I probably look like an idiot but I feel good and feeling good means you are in a better mood and state of mind....hopefully all that stress and depression can be turned into something awesome after a run.0

Sub what you usually snack on with something healthier. Eat baby carrots... they are super low in calories and won't fill you up so they're a good "snacking" food. Also... whenever I'm about the get a snack just because I want to eat something I try chewing on gum instead. Your body doesn't want food.... you just want something to chew on. Drinking hot tea also helps for me.

It's simple. Workout.
I have found that working out has changed a lot of things, find something you like and do it. Go for a walk, or run or swim or jump up and down or anything that gets those endorphins moving. You won't be as stressed and the feeling of being sad will get better - it wont go away but it will get better.0 -
Plan and schedule so that you don't have to rely on willpower to make good choices. Put exercise in your schedule as one more 'appointment' for the day. Keep healthy food around as much as possible. Celebrate the good choices you do make - every time you eat an apple instead of chips, that is a victory! Every time you work out instead of sitting on the couch, that is a victory!

deep breathing and meditation exercises also help out a lot. You can google how to do it. Or try yoga0

OMG! I do it too! I try to munch on celery when the urge to binge strikes or if I HAVE to have sweets I eat the Atkins treats...I break them up into little pieces so they last longer. I've been craving carbs lately but I can't have them...I'm looking for an alternative to satisfy the need so if anyone knows of anything let me know0

eating triggered by stress and depression is how I ended up overweight in the first place. Yup - at least 80% of my weight problem was from this. So I hear ya - I soooooo understand.
One thing that is really helping me keep that stress under control right now, is getting regular exercise. I was surprised at just how much it helped. And even just going for a 30 minute walk made a big difference for me.0
