Selfishly Motivated POLL... Weight or Aerobics?

Poll: Should I take Weight Training next semester or Aerobic Dance? Both at 8am Tues/Thurs... I already intend to run regularly, training for an April 10K, and I'm not very good at weight training yet, which makes the Weight class the more beneficial option, probably.

However, Aerobic Dance sounds like so much fun! And it would burn more calories. And not have surly athlete classmates. AND I just dislike weights. Bleck.

Also, would the weight training negatively affect my 10k training at all? I'm still unsure how strength training affects long-distance running

Make up my mind! Because I'm incapable...

I tend to go for fun when it comes to classes. xD Weight Training would probably be much better in terms of overall knowledge and health, but if I'm gonna pay for something, I'd rather do the fun one.

I believe there are ways to strength train for endurance rather than, well, strength, but I'm not sure.

I think I would have a lot of trouble making up my mind if I was in your situation, but I would probably end up going for Aerobic Dance in the end.

Running and aerobics may seem like fun, but that's going to be a lot of running around! In my own experience (which is limited and doesn't apply to all) I have found that building a little muscle has improve my running times.

Maybe you dislike weight training because you don't know much about it. My advice: broaden your horizons.

Yup... you got me. With that and cardiophile's advice, looks like weight training might win out... *sigh*

I have read that weight training will help to increase your endurance with running.
