Body building for beginners??

Well, my brother is 20 years old and he's SO skinny that he refuses to go to a gym!
I'm trying to convince him to do workouts at home to put on some muscles, so the question is: What body building workout videos suit beginners??

He probably could. I don't see why not. But I have no info on him other than he's 20 and skinny.0

I wouldn't do a video. I'd lift weights and eat a ton of food. Stronglifts 5x5 or Starting Strength are great starter routines. He needs to lift heavy, though. He'll need at least a dumbbell set to get started. A skinny 20 year old will get strong very fast if he eats right, and I suspect he'll need a barbell, bench, and squat rack pretty quickly. Maybe by then he'll be comfortable going to a gym.
But he'll need to eat a lot! As a skinny 20 year old man, that will be his biggest challenge.0 -

I don't know what info you need. He never lifted or worked out before, which means he needs to build muscles from the very beginning, doesn't it??0 -
Have him go to a bodybuilding/weightlifting specific website and choose a program. There are a lot of workouts geared towards beginners. PO90X and workouts like those aren't geared towards people who are skinny. Tell him to man up and go to the gym. Choose a workout plan and stick with it for at least 3 months. 6 months would be even better as it will give his body time to adapt. For his calorie intake have him look at the Harris-Benedict or Katch-Mcardle calculator.0

I was a skinny 9th grader when I started using the school gym to workout. I got teased by all the football players/jocks, for about 1 school year,. Then I was as big as them, then bigger, and bigger .... That's how it works, we all start some where. Tell him to suck it up and get to the gym and eat right. As was already said.0 -

Like others have said, any type of video workout is usually cardio (which isn't going to do much for him size wise).
Starting Strength and Stronglifts are fantastic beginner programs.
Another alternative:
Suggest he get a construction type job this summer. Heavy manual labor + eating= bulking up for profit.0 -

No he won't need to go to a gym.
Muscles can be built at home just fine. Eating is the most important thing anyway.
Gym is easier and doesn't take much effort to learn what to do. Working at home you need to eventually learn tons of exercises as instead of adding plates, you do a more difficult exercise. Have to get your google-fu on and spend a lot of time researching.0
