Hi this is my first visit here in hopes of encouragement and tips. I am a mom of 4 who has MS. I have put on about 50 pounds since my diagnosis in 2005 and really want to get rid of it. I am not sure how to start my journey. Seeing how my mobility in compromised i can not do a lot however i can still walk a bit especially in the morning. Can anyone give me a push to get started in the right direction. We have a big disney trip planned next may and really want to lose the 50 pounds by then. Is that possible? Thank you for any help, or wisdom.

In a year, loosing 50 should be no problem.
Getting in shape is about 30% in the gym and 70% in the kitchen, if not more.
Walking down the street as part of exercise is a wonderful way to get started. If you have netflix, I would suggest watching the documentary "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". It is so inspiring and can really give you some key information about your body that you may not know.
Starting here is a wonderful way to begin, make sure you log EVERYTHING you eat, even if you just unknowingly reached for some candy or some chips. log it.
This will make you more aware of what you're putting into your body, so you can begin to control it (:
Good luck, I'm cheering for you!0 -
Thank you. I have watched thqt a few days ago and really got me thinking that i needed to change. I know i can do this just needed a push in the right direction. I am going to stick to this and log everything. If walking is all i can do then that will have to work. Hank you for the encouragement.0

But of course (:
Something to always keep in mind, even if you're just walking, your still lapping everyone who's just sitting on the couch (:

I am new here also & am finding that logging everything I eat helps me be aware of what I'm eating. It's an eye opener! I have sciatica & nerve damage in one foot so my activity is limited also. I do a low impact aerobics class 2 nights a week (I do what I can). I find the elliptical & bicycle don't bother my foot so I do those when I can. I don't think you have to go crazy in the gym, you just have to get moving. Walking, dancing what ever. Good Luck & welcome0

Hi there, I'm pretty new too, just joined on Monday. I have 188 pounds to lose, so its going to take some time. I have health issues too that make exercise difficult, so I understand where you are coming from. If you need a friend please feel free to add me, I love a natter and would be glad to help if I can. xxx0
