I have no motives to make myself "skinny" what i really want is to be healthy and an athlete! I want to eventually have abs and be strong and fit. In no way am i knocking skinny women i just think for me a more athletic look would be a bigger accomplishment. My overall one year goal is to run a half marathon and possibly start on the lifting team at my college next year.

Sounds like a great goal. I'm like you - no desire to be skinny. I started on 1/1/2011. Completed my first half marathon 11/10/12, and my second on 12/9/12. What are you doing to meet your goals?0

I am registered for my first 5K in august but hope to be working on more like 6 miles by then. I also am starting heavy lifting to start toning up this squish i have left from weight loss. I am trying to be consistent with my running and am always pushing myself to work my hardest. Like my gym owner/trainer said "its not a workout until youve given it your all"0

Check out some hot pictures of women on the internet. That seems to do it for me. Hubby thinks I'm a lezzy but oh well.0

Its not that im not motivated to lose weight, im just not motivated to be skinny, id rather have more muscle definition and look more athletic than be skinny0 -

Hey, strong and athletic is the way to go.0

I'm the same. I've never been athletic, so as I am right now (aka, a fatty) I'm actually in better shape than before. Also, look up Christmas Abbott. She's gorgeous and athletic!0
-
I totally agree. With my body I know that I'll never be skinny and I'm finally starting to be okay with that because I'd rather be healthy. I think you have the right attitude and as long as your main focus is getting healthy then go for it and never quit!0

Everyone has different goals. Nothing wrong with wanting to be athletic. Some want to be skinny. I want to be ripped. Different strokes for different folks. It would be sad if we all wanted to look the same way.0
-
I support your choices. Now go do it!0
-
Oh how boring life would be, if we all looked the same ♥0

Sounds like this topic was more suited as a status on your news feed rather than a topic in the forums.0

I think it's brilliant to want to be strong not skinny. I'm not doing this to be skinny, I want my damn curves back and if that means that when I hit my goal I'm too thin you can bet your bum I'm going to gain a few pounds back (I'm giving myself enough room weight wise to be able to do that) I think you have some really great, really HEALTHY goals.0

Different looks for different folks!! Good luck with your runs and your goals!!!0

If I were in my early twenties I might be more inclined to go towards the lower end of my BMI range, but being in my 30s I feel that strong and muscular will keep me from looking older than I am.0

I just want to be a wookie.
Or a sheep...... Ba ba ba ba...0 -
I have no desire to be skinny ever again. I want to forever be and remain fit and athletic.0

My goal is to be hot and badass, whatever size that may be.
I think those are great goals, but sometimes posts like this come across as body shaming. Just be careful how it's worded when you single out a particular group of people.0 -

I don't think this post even comes close to body shaming. Of course, this is the internet, I'm sure *someone* will be offended.0 -

I fully admit I am most likely being overly sensitive or over thinking. I just have issues with people picking a certain type and saying I DON'T want to be THAT. Just go with "I want to be strong and healthy and athletic" and leave out the rest.
Again, only MY opinion, and with that I'll take my toys and go. :bigsmile:0 -
Same for me. Nothing wrong with that. Some girls want to be slim because they like the look, so why can't we have the desire to NOT be skinny?
I don't even want abs, I want to have some fat on my stomach, because I love the soft look. But I do want muscular thighs and arms - though I doubt my arms will ever tone up (too much fat covering it!). My main goal is just to be healthy and to be able to move like an athlete!0 -

So what is with all the thousands of people on here that don't want to be overweight and are trying to lose weight....? SOOO much body shaming going on0 -
Seems like a healthy attitude to me.0

I'm totally the same! I used to want to be thin but then i realised that being toned and strong is just so much more rewarding. Already noticing differences in my body. I want to be the kind of girl that people look at and think 'woah, she obviously works out!'
Good luck to you all!0 -

If a person is looking for shame they will find it, even where it doesn't exist. Stop being ashamed of yourself and stop implying that others are ashamed too. We need to create a safe environment for all to share and heal. The healing starts mentally, we have to stop being angry at ourselves for not being what we think we should be. Once we understand our bodies are suffering just as we are, we can start nurturing our bodies to better health.
Historically there are many different weights a body can be and still be healthy. I am 5'4" almost 180 lbs with a 27% body fat and size 10 pant. I am an amazon lol
I love me, and know my weight is high, but I lift and the shape and size of my body is awesome!!
Do what you need to to love yourself more, to help yourself more. We are here for you luv!!0 -

I feel the same way. I'm always turned off by negative statements like that...0
