So planning on getting together with some friends and wondering what the best options are for wine coolers or beer if I want to try and choose something that is lower calorie?? I know water would be best..but not sure that will happen

Not a fan of wine itself and I will avoid the slushy margarita type drinks(even though I love  them)..I am sure those would be pretty full of sugar!

:drinker:

  • What I do a lot of the time is a couple ounces of wine (red or white) and then top it off with a lot of seltzer and maybe some fruit...like a lemon or lime wedge! You get the wine with some fizz without a lot of calories!

Try MGD 64 or Bud Select 55. They are low calorie (but kind of low on taste too if you ask me). Mich Ultra isn't terrible. As non-beer drinks....my go-to is vodka with seltzer and a lime wedge. If you get some really good tequila, some grand marnier and some fresh lime juice, you can make a "skinny margarita." My cousin and I also love blackberry margaritas made with frozen blackberries, frozen light limeade concentrate, tequila and blackberry brandy.

I drink Corona Light...99 calories and tasty with lime. Not to be a lush...but the MGD 64/Bud 55 have less alcohol content, so you have to drink twice as much :drinker: I logged in a good 30 minute workout to "earn" a couple beers for my bbq last weekend!

I go with cherry vodka and sprite zero. It is pretty lo-cal and quite tasty, kind of like a spiked shirley temple.

Less alcohol content and a LOT less taste! *yuck* I'm with you...I'd much rather work out to earn the real stuff! =)

Red wine is about 24 calories an ounce, depending on brand. Nice with sparkling water or just by itself. Not sure about white wine. The light beers come in between 100 and 140 calories a can/bottle, so not too bad. Margaritas pack in a lot of sugar and sodium, so be wary, but they taste so good. I like mine shake, not frozen. Coolers all tend to be over 200 calories or more a bottle.

Good luck! I am facing the same problem with a week of house boating ahead of me starting Saturday and a wedding immediately afterwards!

Any alcoholic drink is going to be "higher" cal...it's just what you do with it and what you want to get out of it.

A lot of those low cal beers n such don't taste great (watery) and don't have much booze in em if you are looking for a buzz. But like jodyjcs suggested, there are is MGD 64, Bud Select, and Michelob Ultra (which comes in some fruity flavors with a higher carb/cal count too).

I'm a big fan of the skinny margarita. If you want a more traditional margarita with sour mix, you could make the mix with splenda and still get your frozen drink. There are sugar free products out there you can buy that all you have to do is add the ice and booze. I think one brand was like Bob's. I can't vouch for the taste though! I've traded in regular for diet, so I'll have a rum and diet coke, gin and diet tonic - both with lime wedges. Yums!

If you want your summery fruity drinks, make em yourself with the real deal. Make a homemade strawberry daiquiri or what have you.

You might be able to google some good recipes too.

Thanks for all the great idea's...hmmm it's 5:00 somewhere right :drinker: teehee!

Lots of choose from..it will be hard to decide (glad I have options though!)..I think I may try the flavored vodka and sprite zero..that sounds great & very refreshing.
I also love a corona now and then and didn't realize they came in light...good to know.
