So the neighbor calls asking if my husband is home. He's not. She said there was an owl stuck in the chicken wire fence and she can't bend over (it was at ground level). So I grabbed the kids and we headed down the hill to help out. A quick snip with wire cutters and he was free. He was so tiny and light, but then, he's a Western Screech Owl, and they are relatively small birds. I hope he gets some rest now so he can hunt tonight! I'm just glad he was okay!

What? Don't you enjoy nature? I mean, have YOU ever been that close to an owl before? With kids around, oohing and aawwing?

Oh, never mind. I was just excited and wanted to tell someone!

Nice job! We have at least 2 species of owls that frequent the treeline at the rear of our property and along the creek running through the neighborhood and I always enjoy listening to them in the evening. Sometimes I can call to them and they'll call back.
