When what used to work doesn't anymore...

I've been consistently losing weight through diet and fitness for about a year. I have maintained my weight of 132 lbs for the last 6-8 months I'd say, but no matter what I do now, I cannot get down anymore weight. I am not looking just at the scale number, but clothing wise, I am just not slimming down at all. I have tried cutting my calories back and eating cleaner, but I am pretty much just maintaining no matter what I do. How does one go about getting over the hurdle? Right now I eat about 1500-1700 calories a day and do cardio/weights 4 days a week. Any advice?

How tall are you? That's a decently low weight depending on your height... it might be a bit of a fight to get below that. The last 10 are always the worst.
If that's your pic you don't look like you have much to lose.
Try playing with cals.. taking a diet break for 4-6 weeks and eating at maintenance than dropping again, or decreasing carbs for a while. Something your body isn't used to already.
Also, how long have you been lifting? Are you taking measurements? I know when I was lifting more I made a lot of progress with measurements and not as much on the scale. You said your clothes are fitting pretty much the same but it could be a little more of a subtle difference. Maybe some progress pics or comparisons b/t now and 6 months ago?0 -
From your pics you look pretty tall and very lean. I am not sure if there is 14 lbs to take off of you. My suggestion would be to up the lifting to tone more.0

Hey girl! I think you're doing fine! I know that's annoying . I'd suggest something new like boxing for cardio, yoga....I dunno you may need a trainer if working on your own doesn't cut it anymore.
I'm not trying to get you to spend more money, but sometimes the last piece can so hard! (says others, I'm too chubby to be at that point lol)
And I wouldn't recommend cutting back on calories anymore than you have, maybe really paying attention to salt and fats? I don't know you see pretty healthy0 -
True! Kickboxing is great!0

I'd cut down my calories a bit I think. 1500-1700 is what I eat at 180lbs and exercising every day.0

Funny... I just posted a similar issue My trainer suggested I change my cal intake to include way more protein (consume my body weight in protein grams which is about 130g a day) and try not to have any carbs for dinner or after. Eat carbs at breakfast and lunch. Eating 130 grams of protein a day requires I drink Whey protein shakes. at least twice a day, or I'd O.D. on chicken, turkey, shrimp and eggs!
Your body adapts, so the other thing you can do is incorporate completely different exercises. If you do the tredmill, then get on a bike, a rowing machine, the EFX, take a cardio class, a spinniing class, of something different (kickbox, pilates, the barre). You have to mix it up or your body stops responding. There are a lot of cool apps you can download to your phone to take to the gym and use that as your virtual trainer.
Good luck!0 -
From what I have read an in my own experience you need to be eating the right amount to get the last few pounds off.
The right amount does not necessarily mean just eating less than you currently are you need to be TDEE -10% which takes very detailed and accurate logging. As well as maybe changing up your workout so you are pushing yourself more and challenging your body.
How accurately do you know all your measurements?
My progress has slowed and ive had to change it up and get more detailed to get my bf% lower.
Believe it or not taking a break tends to work best for me.0 -
Can anyone recommend a good/dependable site where I can calculate my TDEE? I am skeptical about all the ones I have found thus far, as I keep coming back with drastically different results from each. I am aiming to eat my body weight in protein each day, as well since this seems to be a common tip. I just want to shed off 5-10 lbs and I have been trying for months with no luck. So frustrating.0
