CRAVING carbs...Help Please!

Does anyone know of a good carb alternative that will satisfy the craving? I am avoiding carbs as much as I can but I would kill for some pasta or a sub-sandwich right now!

Nothing wrong with carbs, eat complex carbs instead of simple carbs.

Maybe load up on the protein with a small side of carbs. But as the previous poster said, nothing wrong with carbs, just go for the complex carbs.

Here's an idea for the pasta craving: use whole wheat pasta (1 serving) and pile on roasted veggies in a marinara sauce with grilled chicken. Count on the veggies and chicken to fill you up instead of the pasta...

Make a fat bomb. Seriously. Search for it on this site under the community. The high protein/healthy fat combo will stop the craving in it's tracks. I have to severely limit carbs (pasta, bread, etc) due to health issues and this usually helps me. I will usually have some berries or other low sugar/high fiber fruit with it.

I have to watch carbs too do to health reasons. But I am also very sensitive to artificial sweeteners so a lot of the low-carb products don't work for me. But I have heard a lot of people really like the Atkins or the Ensure products (I think this is the right brand name...double check before buying). The Atkins is made to be low-carb and have a bunch of cookie/candy options that are a quick hit but don't mess anything up. The Ensure is for diabetics for the most part so if you get that line of products they have slow release carbs which work well with a low-carb lifestyle. Also, I think it is Bryers that has a low-carb icecream. I have tried that and other than the sweetener it was pretty good. Not as creamy as most others but still worked. Good luck!

I always try to get some fruit or protein asap when I am carb craving. Depending on what your diet consists of, your case will be different. (nb diet = lifestyle daily diet, not doing some silly temoorary diet)

I would disagree with the poster above just about adding complex carbs. I found that switching to a gluten free diet instead is what products trained my body in a short time and now I actually crave protein. All I wanted for dinner today was meat meat meat! I still have some gf pasta or brown rice every day, in small amounts, but get most carbs from fruit :) you'd be surprised how filling a really big salad can be

There will be days when you have bad cravings. Give in a bit, just don't go too far. You're only human! And if you're a woman, there is going to be that week every month where you want to eat everything.... that just sucks :(

If you are eating low carb, check out the website netrition.com, they have a bunch of low carb products, and are excellent! I have been making pancakes with the Carbquik (similar to bisquick) and for 2 carbs a pancake, can't beat it!!

I have the same problem. I'm a carbaholic! I actually sit at my desk and think about carbs....potatoes, bread, popcorn....YUM! Interesting enough, I could do without pasta altogether. I've tried eating proteins and actually will go over on protein each day and still crave carbs. I will have to look into the fat bomb. I've tried everything else.

A piece of fruit is a good carb fix!! Way better than pasta. I'm a carboholic, so I get cravings too but I keep apples and oranges handy for when I get a craving. If I'm going to go over on my calories, I'd rather it be with an orange. :)
