Those of you who steam vegetables (broccoli, kale, whatever);
Do you drink the water that the vegs are steamed in? The water turns green, so I figure there's some nutritional value in it. So I'll put it in a glass and drink it when it's cooled down.
Anyone else do this or am I an anomaly?

I do for some vegetables (when I boil them for a broth).0

Sometimes I save the water and use it to make rice or soup with.0

I have made soup broth from it before, but I haven't drunk it.0

Never thought of drinking it, what a great ideal, or better yet ill put it in the freezer for soup stock. I will have to give it a taste, thanks!

I bet a split pea soup with water from steamed vegs would be quite good.sounds gross
Why? It's just water and whatever came off the vegetables (vitamins, I presume).0 -
I steam mine in my rice cooker using a steaming attachment so it doesn't actually have any water leftover, but I imagine some of that is being absorbed into the quinoa I'm cooking below0

Not usually, but I definitely slurp up all that delicious, frothy bean juice. I like to add it to my smoothies along with some queso and pretend I'm in Guadalupe. Olé!0

It's vegetable broth. I only drink it (or use it with my food), if it tastes good.
Also, I don't actually use the water from steaming. Just if I boil the vegetables and I partly do that for the broth.0 -
