So i was out drinking last night and lost 2lbs..

I drank around 7-8 beers and a shot or two of Jameson, i weighed myself the morning after and had lost 2lbs, what is up with that? is it just the water that dehydrated? will i gain more weight later cause of the calories i consumed?

alcohol is dehydrating drink one and piss two! One day of excess cals wont matter much but do it frequently and you'll gain. alcohol is 7 cals per gram so you need to fit it in your macros and consume infrequently.

It's not 7 calories per gram.

There isn't a metabolic pathway to turn ethanol and acetate into fat. Can't be done.

So, the 2400 calories in the bottle of jack... isn't really. Honest to christ, we aren't sure what the calorie count of alcohol is, because the last time we measured it was 130 years ago.. by BURNING it in a calorimeter, and didn't take things like metabolism and nutrient assimilation into account.

Cause that's how I assimilate MY nutrients, I burn that *kitten*. True Story.

You lost 2 lbs of water. Alcohol is a poison, your body tries to flush it out.

Soon as you drink some water you will put it back on unfortunately.

The hormone ADH is released by the pituitary gland, it tells the body that you are dehydrated and the kidneys react by reabsorbing more water.

You have to remember that alcohol (although legal) is a drug, one of it's effects is that is causes ADH level to be lowered, that stops your body reabsorbing as much water and causes you to go to the toilet a lot.

It's the reason alcohol is so dehydrating and the reason people feel like hell in the morning (thus why is you match your alcohol intake to water intake you can avoid a hangover!)

Ecstacy does the opposite, increasing ADH to make you reabsorb as much water as possible, that's why people feel thirsty and why people have been known to die from over consuming water, so if you took E it would probably show you as having gained weight, but of course you can't gain weight from a tiny tablet.

In conclusion: Sorry, it's not weight loss it's just biological!
