Sylvia Browne's scamming ways
I'm biased yes. I dislike psychics with a passion because of the scamming that they do to people who look for hope. The best way to scam them is when they are emotionally wrecked from a tragedy in their life and that's how Sylvia Browne operates. She was completely wrong on Shawn Hornbeck, and again now with Amanda Berry telling both parents of the two that they were deceased.
Now we can assume that when a kidnapping happens, that the chances of a child returning after 72 hours and beyond are not great, but she blatantly stated without a pause in answering that these kids were dead.
What can we do? Well, I'm not one to argue against freedom of speech, so people just need to realize that these seers are just scam artists preying on people who are vunerable at the time. Don't spend any money on them. Don't give any money to them. And don't let others either.
Rant over.

Seriously. What kind of harm must that do to a parent who's still holding out hope for their child? And the extravagant prices they charge for minutes of preying on people's emotions and inner desires... it makes me ill.
I have a real interest in the occult and even read tarot (as a form of thought organization and meditation, not fortune telling), but do I believe in this stuff? No. It's interesting, yes, but when people like Browne use these concepts to take money and hurt people, it makes my blood boil.0 -
I actually know some real psychics. Real, honest to god psychics who I have seen offer up the real thing. And yes, I agree, Sylvia Brown is a scammer.0

I'm not debating how you feel about them, I'm just wondering why if they are real that they don't help us to avoid tragedies.

While I agree with what you're saying I also have something to say about what you just said...
You could say the same thing about God. Why isn't he helping us avoid tragedies?0 -

Personally, I don't think psychics have any psyche power. A broken clock is right 2 times out of the day, so if a psychic makes enough predictions, something is bound to be right.

And for those who dont here are next saturdays winning lottery numbers... 2,7,16, 29,33,46 bonus 3 and 8.
you dont need luck "the phsycic is with you " !!0 -
My mom is psychic, but she never went around bragging about it. Only her kids and a few very close friends knew. No we didn't become millionaires because she psychically picked the winning numbers. It doesn't work like that. Things would come to her randomly. None of that holding a personal object in her hand and giving you a 'reading' or crystal ball crap.
Many times we were amazed by her and her ability.
But so called psychics like Sylvia Brown, John Edwards and even worse James Van Praagh are nothing more than glorified carnival workers who have learned to 'work' the audience.0 -

That's how it works with the psychically inclined folks I know. Also, they've never asked for money or to buy a product, well, except for the lady who also sold Tupperware, but that was her job and had nothing to do with being a psychic. :laugh:0 -

I don't think most of them go around having visions about every tragic event. Some do, and most of the time when those people speak out, people don't listen to them.
Most of the time it's a great big flow of information and they have to focus on something specific.
My friend can answer specific questions she's asked, but she doesn't get a play by play in her mind about every event that's going to happen the day after tomorrow.0 -
I couldn't agree more with the OP. I'm very skeptical about anyone who claims to be psychic. At no point have I ever been witness to sufficient evidence to believe that anyone possesses psychic powers.
I think it's completely reprehensible to take advantage of tragedy and milk it for money. The damage that individuals whom claim to be psychic do is far greater than any good that can come of their antics. Unfortunately, those whom sell snake oil aren't typically concerned for their customer.0 -
lol@ "real" psychics. some poeple are just good at reading subconscious clues. kind of like Shawn Spencer.0
