can help me figure my calorie intake properly

Options
I am 50 years old female, 5 feet 1 inches. 138 pounds. Working out every day. usually 45 minutes on the treadmill and if not we walk at least 5 miles brisk. I do golfing every day 9 holes takes 2 hours. I have a personal trainer once a week also. I have taken a 1300 calorie plan and figure if I burn 400 or 500 calories then I should eat around 1500 or 1600 calories is this correct. I also like my wine so I do have 2 glasses a day and count them into my count. I don't seem to be losing weight but I am not gaining either. Maybe just my age but getting frusterated.

How many days are you lifting? Be sure and lift at least 3x a week. This will make all the difference in the world! I'm 55 and have lost 10 to 12 lbs in the last year. My original goal was to loose 5! Lifting weights has really made a difference in my body shape and my calorie burn. I also eat about 1600 a day for maintanence. I'm 5'6' and weigh 132. Good luck!

Basic math says 1300 plus 400-500 is 1700-1800. What did you use to come up with 1300 calories as your goal?

you are already pretty close to a healthy weight (at the upper end of healthy, but healthy), which means that loss for you is going to be very slow. Very slow as in, maybe a half pound a week. If you have only been at this for a few weeks, be patient. Take your measurements; at your weight, looking better isn't necessarily about dropping pounds.

they gave me 1300 but if I figure into my burn it would be between 1700 and 1800 calories. That would be eating back exercise calories.

You're not far off a good weight and its always harder when you're close to goal. I don't see much in fruit and veg in your diary - maybe try upping them and see if it helps? Good luck!

I'm 5"2' and work out about 3-4 times a week. I have a lot more to lose than you do but have been your size and even smaller. I've never been able to lose weight eating more than 1200 calories a day no matter how active I am. May just be my metabolism, but that's how it is for me. I like to see the activity calories I gain (I use a fitbit) but take them with a big grain of salt. I've been on every diet on the planet since middle school. If you went to say Weight Watchers I guarantee you they would put you on a 1200 calorie diet- they use "points" now but it's all the same. They do make allowances for physcial actvity.

I like to have a drink now and then too, but in women it does slow down your metabolism some. I'm not a diet specialist and hope this helps.
