Any track and field athletes out there?

I want to transition into sprinting and jumping from my background which is in long distance and cross country training, but I'm unsure where to start. A quick Google search gives me dozens of results but I have no idea which one is good and which one is bad. So if anyone has any experience with websites that focus on sprint and jump training can you share your knowledge? I don't want to spend a ton of money on coaching or video programs as I am a bit tight on money. I am currently doing a 5x5 program 3 times a week at the gym. I'm also doing occasional sprints on the other days but I have no idea how to structure them.

Thanks.

Looking for things like a routine, structure, program and guidelines. For example, if I want start 100m training, what do I do tomorrow morning? Do I:
sprint 40m, rest, then 50m, rest, then 100m, rest, then start from 40m again.
    or
sprint 100m, rest and then do 100m again.
    How long do I do this, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60+ minutes?

Similarly, how do I start training for high jump?

If you still need help let me know. I haven't coached track.. but I hold a few HS State records and ran Div1 Track.. 100m/200m.. Did long and triple hump in school as well.

You want power.. Things like Sled Drags, Hill Sprints, Block work, Squats, lunges should all be staples weekly in your routine.

Sprinting and jumping require the use of your fast twitch muscle fibers, which are activated when lifting heavy. Do a combination of heavy lifting and HIIT.

plyo also uses fast twitch fibers.

I'm just interested in being fastER.no specific event. i just want to prove to myself i can be faster than i was in junior high and high school, when i was pretty dang slow. I had accepted that is just how I am, but i think with the right training anyone can be faster.
But my main focus now is lifting, so the endurance and speed improvements are secondary.

If i can accomplish some actual speed there are some races or track and field events i'd like to enter in the future.
but i don't expect to be ready any time soon.

edit to add: my best time for the mile was around 8 mins. I never ran faster than that, although
everyone else seemed to get to 6 or 7 min miles so easily with the same training as me.
for being on the track team and the mile is your event, 8 min. is pretty slow.
if i'm comparing it now, i would be proud to have an 8 min time, just as a casual runner.
