the yo yo continues :(

Hi I've lost and regained weight so many times. im now at my peak and dont feel good about myself. yes i want to lose but how can i have motivation with my history of working my butt off only to quickly gain it back? i cant get myself to workout or eat well because i feel so angry at myself for doing this again. i just want to lay in bed all day and eat more. why should i work hard again when knowing me im just going to gain it all back

Having struggled with my weight all my life, I understand your frustration. But I also know how much better I feel both physically and mentally when my weight is under control.

My biggest motivation is my own past-- I KNOW I can do this BECAUSE I HAVE DONE IT (and my ticker pictures prove it!)!!!!!!!

Sorry, to hear about your struggling through the years...this may sound counter-intuitive, but maybe you are trying to hard or doing to much and burning yourself out...getting healthier or any lifestyle change is about taking small steps every day to reach what you want...for instance, find what works, if you like apples work them in often during the week (but don't eat one every day at every meal and snack - you would get sick of them)...try taking things a little slower and weigh less often. My favorite way of keeping track of things is by taking my inches - which I only do once a month.

Every little decision is a choice (i.e. when you park at the grocery store or mall, do you park as close as possible or as far away as possible?) Are you getting enough servings of fruits/veggies each day - if not, what can you do to add just 1 more/day?

I do hope you find something that works for you and please don't give up - you are worth the effort!!!

I found success once I quit looking at losing weight as the goal. Why? Because losing weight isn't actually something I can do. It's a result of things I do.

So I just set goals to easily attainable things. I'm going to walk a mile every day this week. I'm going to log all my food this week. I'm going to walk that mile in 17 minutes instead of 20 minutes. etc.

Now a year later I'm a whole different person. I got here by making small adjustments to my life every week. Always by making goals something I could do, not results.
