Here I am from last summer to now. I am happy but some strange feelings are arising as I am hitting weights I haven't seen in years, I am almost scared for some reason, like I think I will give up and fail.. not what I expected, so I anyways I have to keep on it and keep motivated.

This may not apply to you.

Many women who gain weight have / had deeper issues that they self-medicate with food. As we lose weight, those issues arise to the surface either consciously or subconsciously. Fears, anxieties, phobias often surface at this point. Counseling can help.

    Again, your mileage may vary.

I agree with this. I had to face lots of demons along the way and every time I won the fight my esteem soared and eventually I conquered them all. You can do it to. It was the hardest part of my journey and the reason I feel like I can do anything now.

I completely agree.. after so many years of failing it's hard to believe one can succedd even when doing it. Part of it is even that I didn't notice how big I was and now even 35 down I se photos and I am like- wow I amstill big and I have tried, still same size clothes just fit better... it wil; come, trying to stay positive. I think councelling is very beneficial.

I think we all experience this. Every pound you lose, every inch you shred away, will improve your ability to believe it is possible. Keep building on the positives and you will be so successful!!

I had to fight that ugly voice in my own head - been bullied a lot in life but I discovered my own inner voice was WORSE. If you have that issue, I implore you to fight that voice and beat it down repeatedly until it shuts up forever. It is hard work (or it was for me) but I eventually shut her up and replaced her with one who supports me and cheers me on.

I know with me losing weight, it is adjusting the idea of what I look like in my head to how people see me know (can't believe I looked that big), and also that I am not invisible anymore. It is weird having people acknowledge me, but I'm starting to feel more confident in my skin too. It actually took me going to crossfit and really working out to get past this. Be proud of where you are so far, and set your heels in the stand and push back all the negative thoughts as they will only try to push you backwards.

While getting close to goal weight I sometimes feel too light. Like being solid and dense makes me feel more powerful or secure. I have never been really big so it's not a huge change. I just don't want to be a waif and although I am no danger of THAT I try to shoot for a reasonable weight while also building solid muscle too.

Sometimes people gain lots of weight for protection from something in their life or some trauma theyv'e had. People have to face other demons in their head when shedding that protection.

I completely agree with you, good for you overcoming it! I have not incorporated exercising yet, I know I should I was just worried at first that if I expected too much (diet change and exercise) then it would be too much an dI would quit. I see myself doing something soon, even if it is only 1-2 times a week to start! Thank you for the motivating words!

That makes sense, I have always been overweight and I lost my mother last November, I remember thinking that I would lose weight when she passed (she was sick a long time post lung transplant) but I actually ended up crutching to food and eating more and gaining to a point that when I started dieting I didn't weight myself for the first two weeks becasue I was too scared to face the scale. I finally broke and have been doing this strong for three months and I havent ben less than a size 16 since grade 9! (and stil not but losing at this rate rate I dare say it seems it may happen...ie. scary lol)

It's great hitting your goal no matter how big or small it may be, it means something different for everyone, so good for you! Keep going strong too :)

You're a beautiful young woman. Just take it slow and do it right. So sorry about your mom. That's a challenge that you lost her so recently at a young age. Good for you for taking positive steps in the aftermath of such a huge loss and doing something that's good for you now.
