question about Knee soreness - any help appreciated

HI!!
Last monday, I was at crossfit, and did the workout. I noticed that my knees were exceptionally sore afterward - not the joints, but just ABOVE the joints. kind of the top of the knee, but, it's some kind of tissue soreness.
Anyhow - It involved a lot of squatting, and I back squatted like 145 lbs. A PR, but then followed that with some cleans which involved squat motions as well, and needless to say, this tissue has been sore ever since.
if it was just sore muscle, I thought that would have been cleared up in a week?? is it possible I over did it? I just don't know if I need to work through the pain to loosen it up, or if i might have hurt something and should rest it more.
any ideas? thank you!!
(if someone can fix the link - i'd appreciate it)

this image makes me think it's the femoris tendon. So Tendonitis? from squats? is that possible?
if it is that - what is the best way to fix it?
THANKS AGAIN!

I'd suggest icing it and maybe ibuprofen to try to get the swelling down. If its been sore for a week+, you may want to set up a doctor's appointment to get a referral for an evaluation at a physical therapy place. Most insurances will cover a certain number of PT visits a year, and even if you only show up for the evaluation, they can tell you what you did to your knee. Until you know what's wrong with it, I wouldn't suggest pushing it. I'm not a doctor or a physical trainer, but if you really did do something to it, "pushing through it" could damage it more and damage to tendons/joints is heck to work through.
I've been going to PT once a week for the past month for knee problems. They're really knowledgeable and when I went he was able to tell me the day that I went in what was wrong and how to work on fixing it. It may sound extreme, but better safe than sorry.0 -
Kneepads unless you are on well padded carpet.0

"Where Does It Hurt? Front of the knee
Above the knee - pain from quadriceps muscle strain and quad tendon inflammation, often from activities where the knees come past the toes, as with poor squatting technique."
^^Possibly inflamed/damaged quad tendon?
Again, I'm not a doctor, just handy with google. Talk to physical therapist or a doctor if you want definite answers.0 -
It really isn't on the knee itself - it's the tendon above it I am sure. this workout was really squat heavy - first the warmup and then the 145 lb back squat - followed by the cleans - which I did over and over squatting trying to improve form.
if it IS tendonitis, which I am becoming more certain of by the minute, I am frustrated because that means I am out of the workouts for awhile.
I just need to find a way to make it heal reallllly fast so I can get back to working out...0 -

There is no such thing, let your body heal on its own time or there will be greater damage and long term consequences0 -

yep - this is it. Though I think it wasn't the technique so much as it was the 145 lbs on my back - though maybe a combination0
