women - pms ..

is anyone else having this problem? im 25 and feel like every year my pms symptoms have gotten worse.. most of the month, i can eat really healthy cook/plan all of my meals and loose/maintain my weight. then, about one week (sometimes up to two weeks) before my period i just go crazy over food. i cant get enough of it, and its not healthy stuff either. i end up going way over my calories and feel really bad about it. then i get my period and while im actually on it i can eat healthy and im fine but right before it it's really bad - so the rest of the month i feel like im always catching up. i noticed too that holidays always land on the days im pmsing which makes it a lot harder to not go overboard. just wondering if anyone else can relate to this and if theres anything you did to help make it more managable or if there are any snacks you go to that are healthy to munch during that time of the month and what you to do relax. any advice is appreciated, thanks! : )

    i have an eat-week. i don't let it phase me, because it balances out. at other parts of my cycle i barely want to eat at all.

    ...i realise it's easier for me to shrug it off, because i'm happy with my weight.

    true.. im not like over weight i mean im at a normal weight. 5'1 and i go from 100-105. its just that i feel like i cant control myself during that time an get really stressed and then i feel like crap because i ate so much junk. im not even hungry when im eating im like eating just to eat.. all i want is like pizza, cupcakes, fried food like nothing healthy at all and i go way over (double) my normal calorie intake. never used to be like this when i was a teenager, dont know if its hormones or a mental thing but need to get it under better control it makes me feel yucky im always like why did i just do that..

    if you eat well the rest of the time, if your weight is stable, then i doubt it does much harm.
    you could always prepare by stocking up or pre-preparing slightly healthier versions of the food you know you crave.

    the hormone changes are weird! as a teen, i was just angry and obnoxious. now i'm crampy and ravenous.

    hahah me too. i was a nightmare pmsing when i was a teenager.. now i just want to eat and wear pajamas. me too im eating left over pizza typing about not wanting to eat so much hahah

    It happens to me every month! What I do now is to, make myself happy and forget about the guilt. Give yourself some rest. Then get back on track!

    I realize that I got less stress when I stop feeling guilty about eating too much and exercise too less or none at all. Then, I tend to perform better as I got back on track ! :)

    thanks : ) thats a good way to look at it, ill definately try that! probably would make the "back to normal" transition much easier if im not stressing about it so much. nice to know this happens to other girls to hahah. my sister like doesnt pms, think this is the one thing i got from my mom that she didnt get.. awesome. lol

    My PMS became much worse after having kids. I started eating more raw foods and added small amounts of nuts to my daily diet and my PMS is pretty much gone now.

    thanks, ill try that! my mom said that same thing, that hers got worse after she had kids. she also said that the whole time she was pregnant with me it was just like 9 months of pmsing (somethin else for me to look forward to!). i got her a really nice mothers day present this year lol

    3 to 4 days before I start I am a cake monster. All i want is cake-y foods and anything sweet and savory. So i eat like crap those few days, but then the first 2 days I don't eat anything hardly at all because of feeling bloated and awful cramps. It has gotten worse in the last two years, but that is because I have gotten on and off of birth control because of cysts the docs found. I do notice though if i nix the awful foods or keep it to a bare minimum I don't feel as bad on day two....which of course makes sense!

    sorry about the cysts, my aunt has them and had to deal with a lot because of it, so i hope that gets better for you : ) also, thats true.. maybe if i eat what i want before i get it but just like less of it iwouldnt feel as crappy. and me too on the cake monster thing.. last month i bought a box of cake mix, adding the eggs, oil, water and mixed it and then i turned the oven on. while i was waiting for it to preheat, took a spoon full of cake mix, then another.. before i knew it i traveled from the kitchen to my bed just like licking a bowl of cake mix.. i didnt get to baking it lol. ahh good times. so yeah maybe just 1-2 servings of my pms food instead of an ENTIRE thing of something would make me feel not as bad about it ; )

    As far as the food cravings go, if I start getting them really bad...like for a donut or something, I'll let myself have one at the end of that day as a reward. Actually, if it were a donut I'd probably let myself have 2 regular glazed ones or something since one would make me crave more and 3 is just way too much XD

    Cravings suck. :( PMS sucks. Mines gotten a LOT worse after birth control. I think that's where all my weight problems began T_T I stopped after 3-4 months (I was on depo provera) but it really screwed up my eating habits and PMS symptoms.

    thats true, i like the idea od having it at the end of the day.. im the kind of person where if i have "junk" food earlier in the day im like well that days ruined anyway now! so i just eat horrrible all day and night. lol but yeah i like that of leaving it until the end of the day, could see that workin out better : )

    i hear that a lot about birth control.. that it really messes people up. last time i took b control was a coupld years ago and it was yaz (thats now on all those commercials for if you want to sue them call this number... ) anyways it made me VERY sick. to the point that i was just laying in the bath tub so nautious and with cramps so bad that i couldnt move. i stopped taking it an never took birth control again. it took me a couple months to get back to normal after that. but yeah just so you know you'll get back to normal, it just takes time, i was worried after i stopped too but it will happen. they should really test that stuff more before they put it out on the market for people to take thinking its safe..
