I found this when doing an internet search

MFP has an exercise for Zumba... just search for it when you enter your exercise time. It is a bit higher than the other two websites I visited. I personally err on the low side by entering it as an aerobics class.

I am burning 520+ per hour in my Zumba and Zumba Toning classes. This was information obtained from a heart rate monitor I wore in class last week! The calories MFP allows for Zumba is a little higher, but acceptable numbers! I'm a 49 year old woman, weighing in at 156. I might add that I do give it 110% every time! :)))

Get a heart rate monitor that tells you calories. Everybody will be different.

The Polar FT4 or Polar FT7 are both rather popular. You can get a starter HRM for about $20-30 on amazon. Various other places have them. They're not 100% accurate, but they're better than nothing.

    Hello!
I will answer your question in 2 parts.
1st - as the other poster stated, MFP (JUST) added Zumba fitness as an activity TODAY :)
So, you can log it that way.

2nd - asking how many calories it burns is totally subjective. Your personal calorie burn for ANY activity will vary depending on your sex, age, weight and height.
However, on top of that, intensity. What you burn during an hour of Zumba will be different than me not only because we are different body make ups, but because Zumba is most effective when done with incredibly high intensity (and that is the assumed intensity when you see all those "burn 800-1000 calories an hour" testimonies.)

I am a Zumba instructor and I can tell you that unless you give it 120% you will NOT burn anywhere near what all the estimates say. However, it's still a great workout and a lot of fun.

I am 200 pounds and I do Zumba in moderate exertion and it states I burn 538 calories in 45 minutes. Most classes are an hour but there is a warm up and cool down time as well.

http://caloriesburnedhq.com/zumba-calories-burned- copy and paste and you can calculate your calories burnt.
