Roy Buchanan, "The Greatest Guitar Player You've never Heard Of"
Edit:
Anyone who ever *has* heard of him should friend me LOL.
And I am totally checking out the ones that have been mentioned whom I don't know. What a great thread!0 -

Some guys can play 20 notes per second, David can play one note for 20 seconds.

Seriously underrated: Lindsey Buckingham. If you have ever watched any live footage of him, you know what I'm talking about. Saw him a few weeks ago and he was a madman.
Someone else who deserves to be here: Joe Walsh. Saw him live last summer and he was just mezmerizing.
Yeah, Stevie Nicks sure knew how to pick 'em.0 -
Duane Allman0

My wonderful husband0

George Harrison and Jeff Beck are grossly underrated and are two of my favorites.
Richie Sambora and Tony Iommi also deserve to be mentioned!!!
And lets not forget CHUCK BERRY!0 -

Good ol' Slowhand, of course.
ETA: I am surprised at how few people had the same answer. Also, adding Townsie to my list. Because it's obvious.
Also I originally missed the part of picking favorite songs. I would have to say Wonderful Tonight (not exactly anything super ridiculous in there, but I do love that song!), Cocaine, and Layla.
For Townsie (though I'm going more with the band in general here) probablyyyy Baba O'Riley, You Better, You Bet, and In a Hand or a Face.0 -
Too many to mention, obviously first and foremost, the late, great Les Paul, and Dad, who is a professional guitar player and was a personal friend of Mr. Les Paul himself, followed by a slew of others, including the late Gary Moore, Steve Ray Vaughn, Robin Trower, Joe Bonamossa........Jimmy Page........too many to list. But yeah, Les Paul and Dad are the top two.0
