I have a husband who is very controlling and a big pennie pincher. He doesn't like buying anything healthy. Can anyone help me with good cheap healthy foods and recepies PLEASE. I really want to lose weight and feel better. Any healthy helpful advice will be appreciated so I can lose and not gain. NO more gaining!!!

    BUMP!

I'm a student so any cheap, healthy meal ideas would help me out a lot... starting uni and having to find cheap ways to eat is one of the reasons I'm now having to diet!

Fruit is always a good choice and now, there are so many choices...cheap ones are plums, grapes, bananas, and if you look for a good sale or have an aldi's food store near cantaloupe, strawberries....they also have a lot of Fit & Active brand stuff cheap as well as a good selection of veggies.....will have to think on some good recipies......will email you later.......hope this helps....sorry about the hubby but I understand, times are tough,.....

beans-black beans, chickpeas/garbonzo beans are cheap and healthier if you buy them dry in a bag and not in a can. You can make hummus, falafels, bean salads etc...make your own salsa/sauces.

Frozen veggies keep better so I get corn, peas, carrots that way if I the fresh is too $$ or not available.

stick to the fruits and veggies, look for sales for the meats (lean is better for you). Tilapia (fish) is cheap and easy to prepare without a strong fishy smell or taste (i'm picky).

If you eliminate the processed foods (or most of them) its easy to have $ for the healthier foods--you will be surprised how much $ is wasted on processed foods!!
