Oatmeal Recipes
I have recently discovered a love for steel-cut oatmeal. It is fantastic and very filling! Before this I found oatmeal to be absolutely repulsive. I made it for the first time, over night in the crock pot with a recipe I found on Cooking Light. It was basic, apples, brown sugar and topped with Hazelnuts. Does anyone else have any must try recipes for crockpot oatmeal that they would like to share?

I just cook my steel cut oats per directions with 1/2 vanilla soy milk and water. Creamier and sweeter, then so good topped with berries and brown sugar.0

I make this once in a while, especially if I know it might be a while until my next meal. Energy dense but low glycemic, it'll keep you satisfied for hours. Great substitute for honey nut cheerios, and quite a bit healthier.
Honey Nut Oats (1 serving)
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup 1% milk
1 Tbsp honey
1/4 cup (1 oz) crushed cashews
Combine all ingredients except the cashews and microwave 2 minutes. Let cool 1 minute. Stir in cashews, enjoy.
Adjust amount of milk or honey according to taste.

I just recently tried using oats for a pizza base, its different, has a texture like crispy pizza bases, almost a nutty flavor......
Super filling, very enjoyable, could only manage 2 small slices, so it helped with stopping over indulgence.
1/4 ounce yeast (1 packet)
1/4 teaspoon sugar substitute
1 1/4 cups warm water (separated)
1 3/4 cups oat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dissolve yeast and splenda in 3/4 cup warm water and let sit for about 8 minutes.
In a separate bowl, combine oat flour and salt.
Pour yeast mixture over flour and mix well.
Knead for about 2 minutes.
Spread onto lightly greased pan using the remaining water to smooth crust onto pan.
Bake at 280 for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
it does have a sticky, gluggy consistency about it but once you have it spread out onto a pan and cook it off before you put topping on it, it is worth a try...
for the oat flour I just blended up oats to make it myself, and make the base as thing as possible while still holding together..0 -
