What Is On Your Shopping List?

Pretty much what it says, what are your main meals you do for a week and what is on your shopping list all the time? :), I am asking as I am trying to come up with good ideas for myself and the hubby. He is all about meat and cheese, I am all about the veggies and fruit.

Also I can't have Dairy and I am not eating sugar ( other than what is in fruit), I can have a small amount of dairy but with it being so severe now to were a cup of milk sends me into a ball on the floor with major cramps and such I try to avoid it like a plague.

So what are your great recipes and ideas?! :)!!

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up my eggs from the farm I order them from. I eat a LOT of eggs. Pastured eggs. Chicken eggs. Duck eggs.

My go-to meal lately has been a beef/duck egg scramble. With cheese. :-) <3

I went to the grocery store today. I have to give the caveat that we are trying to eat down our pantry/freezer, so it is a smaller list than usual.

    I purchased:
4-ish lbs. boneless skinless chicken breast which I will cook in the crock tomorrow and shred for the rest of the week.

10 oz. of fresh spinach. Will have to get more b/c I usually eat 5-6 oz. a day, but they only had one bag of the kind I can afford.

    Coffee grounds.

2 containers 1/2 gal each almond milk.

2 avocados-need more, but the store didn't have very many and most of those were too far gone.

    2 cucumbers

16 oz. ff italian salad dressing

    I spent $21.82

We are also getting w shares from Bountiful Baskets, so will have lots of fruit and veg when we pick it up on Saturday-it's 2 weeks worth for just the two of us and sometimes there's extra for the freezer.

Most weeks I also buy yogurt, flax seed bread and a few other things. Meat when it's on super sale or marked down. Tuna for hubs for lunch or some kind of fish he can grill. Protein powder every month or so. 2% milk. Canned or dry beans. whole grains, which we have a LOT of right now and need to use.

We eat quite a bit of cheese-as a snack with fruit and/or crackers and/or wine, but I have a bunch of different kinds in the fridge already from a Costco trip last month and some more from a cheese importer in Denver where we just were on vacation.

Had a big shop yesterday, which included:

Flour: almond, buckwheat, soy, chickpea/gram (I can't do gluten, so I do a lot of baking)
Sweetener: Liquid and powdered stevia; ooh! xylitol (some calories, but better for dishes where sugar is structural)
Nuts & seeds: Cashews, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, poppy seeds, slivered almonds
Coconut oil (for baking and other cooking)
Meats: Ground beef (for big batch of meatloaf/meatballs, with almond flour instead of bread crumbs), GF breakfast sausages, GF Italian sausage (for the lasagna I'm planning to make, with roasted eggplant strips instead of noodles), bacon
Dairy: Eggs (for eating and baking), milk, cream, butter
Baking extras / seasonings: Chocolate chips, dried blueberries, herbs and spices, GF miso (yay!), light salad dressing (not fat-free, because ick and because some fat needed for vitamin absorption)
Produce: Tomatoes, mushrooms mushrooms and more mushrooms, red sweet pepper, lettuce, cucumber, red onions, sweet potatoes
Treats: "Bombay mix" gf spicy snack food

We've been getting an organic fruit and veg box delivered weekly. This week's had Chinese cabbage, sweet bell pepper, leeks, a few nice new potatoes, apples, oranges, and bananas.

Staples I keep around include whey protein (the good ones are lactose-free, so you probably would be fine, depending on what causes your milk problems; I use it in baking and in smoothies and in mashed potatoes); cocoa powder; oat meal flakes, oat bran, buckwheat flakes, millet flakes, coconut flour (amazingly low carb), whole grain gf flour blend, mixed seeds for bread, xantham gum for helping non-wheat baked goods hold together, Greek-style yogurt, cheeses, lean meats (chicken, turkey, pork, lamb, beef, venison), frozen fish, canned tuna, gluten-free pasta, the konjac pasta (good in soups or mixed with regular pasta), berries! loads of berries! (currently, have frozen from farmstand), radishes (great snack), gf vegetable boullion, canned tomato puree, a couple of jars of gf curry or spaghetti sauce. The coconut oil and a good olive oil. Fresh ginger and garlic.

When I make my lasagna, I'll use the roasted eggplant as noodles, cook a sauce of tomatoes and onions and garlic and fresh herbs, simmer Italian sausage with mushrooms to add to the sauce, and layer the noodles and sauce with seasoned ricotta cheese, then grate some parmesan on top. But crumbled tofu with a little olive oil and lemon and Italian herbs can work well in place of the ricotta. And there are some decent non-dairy cheeses, for shared dishes, if you can't eat hard cheese, either.
