Hi guys I am new to all this weight loss as I have never dieted and done much exercise before. i started last month and i burn 640 calories on a daily basis and i have a calorie limit of 1000 a day. I was just wondering how many pound am i likely to lose a week. I have been losing 2lb a week, is this an acceptable target to hit per week? Would just like to hear everyone's thoughts and how many calories do you guys eat and burn per day??

When you say you have a calorie limit of 1000, does that mean you're eating less than 1000 calories a day? That's way too little and is likely to lead to some muscle loss and metabolic slowdown over time. Men shouldn't eat less than 1800 calories a day, really, and you should eat more if you're active/work out.

Can I suggest that you put your info into a site like http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and eat at a more sensible deficit that's more sustainable?

I agree with Dianne. I started out at 1500 and even that was too low for me. I upped my calories to 1850 and the inches have been going down like crazy.

1000 a day is definitely starving your body. Check out your BMR and then check out your TDEE either at the site Dianne gave or here. You'll want to minus %20 of your TDEE to get your goal caloric intake. :)

MFP should set you on the right track if you record everything you do and overtime you can adjust by seeing how your body reacts to the adjustments...
