Bugs in your diary??

Options
Did anyone catch that new News piece? They
are pushing the concept here in the Western
part of the globe to eat bugs .. they explain how
we can get good nutrients and protein from
smaller sources than chicken, beef and other
options. Wondered what everyone thinks of this.
Not appealing to me at all!

I know right. In fact about 100 years ago lobster was thought if as
not worthy to our plates but today they are considered fine dining
food. But they mean crawling and flying things that they might eat
in Thailand and other places on the map. I know they make those tequila
candies and stick a worm in certain tequilla bottles so to some it might
be fine, others novelty. I just can't get my appetite into that.

Even were I still omni there would be no way in hell I'd *intentionally* eat bugs. Back when I was I did, in fact, have opportunities.

I don't like the things near me, I ain't putting them in me.

I tried some chocolate covered ants when I was younger. They were peppery but not too bad. Now, though, I don't know if I'd be that brave. I mean, escargot is a delicacy, but the thought of eating snails nauseates me just a little...

They used to sell chocolate covered grasshoppers and ants at the corner store when I was very young. I hate to say it but I ate a lot of grasshoppers. They're really good covered in chocolate - but then again, so is plastic.

I've always lived by the rule of "try something before you say you don't like it." I would probably try the insects, but I can't see it being something I would eat on a daily basis.

I have had escargot (and thought it was delicious) and it didn't even cross my mind that these are the pests that I toss out of my garden :noway:

I bet they are - but so are dandelion leaves and I'm never going near that stuff again!

Some red food coloring is made from bugs... from the color in strawberry ice cream to shakes to lipstick. You've probably been dining on bugs for years.
