Working out while sick??

Today I woke up with a very sore throat which is not out of the ordinary for me. I was looked at by an RN and diagnosed with tonsillitis. I was doing well today and now that it is almost the end of the work day I am hot and feeling very run down. I have had a bad couple of days (eating unhealthy and such) and will feel guilty if I don't work out.

Any suggestions for what to do in this situation? Should I just go for a light walk and not worry?
Help would be appreciated!

If you are not feeling up to it, then your body is telling you something. Rest.

I usually see if I have a fever, if I do, then I'm not working out. If I don't have a fever, then I'll do at least an hour of cardio. Nothing too strenuous or else I feel like I'm going to pass out.

With common colds my rule of thumb is usually this: if its in the head only (nose, throat) then ok to work out but also ok to be a pansy and half *kitten* the workout...
but if its gone down to the chest, no...get in bed. (you can crunch a bit there and squeeze glutes :)
ok...did not intend for that to come out sounding nasty, hahaha....

I have a head cold and worked out. Now i am in bed resting. When i used to swim, i would go as long as it wasn't respiratory. Swimming with difficulty breathing made me sick a lot longer.

I'd just got for a walk or something, nothing intense. I tried 2 weeks ago and it was a big mistake!

No, if you're diagnosed with tonsillitis, feel hot, and run down, you should rest and get well. If you overdo while you are ill, you could make everything worse. Veg out on the couch without guilt! Hope you feel better soon.
