How to loose weight when you are not overweight, help!

I'm at the upper end of a healthy BMI for me but I've been told to lose weight to reduce the strain on my spine as I have scoliosis and am suffering a lot of pain but, Im finding it very difficult. Is it more difficult to lose weight when you are not overweight? Is anyone else in the same position, or does anyone have any advice?

What's your height, weight, age and how much have you been told to lose?

What's the degree of your scoliosis? You could post in the scoliosis group here for more informed advice from fellow sufferers: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/7164-scoliosis

In my experience (of weight loss; no experience with scoliosis) it's not more difficult to lose weight when you are not overweight, it's just a slower process. You can't lose fat as quickly as someone who is obese. You need a smaller calorie deficit, so aim to lose maybe half a pound a week. You also needs lots of patience!
  • Thanks, I didn't realise there was a scoliosis board. I am 4'10" and weigh 116 pounds and have been told to weigh as little as possible hut staying a healthy weight. I'm aiming for 98 pounds.
