So I'm new. I've entered my details and my goal for daily calories is 4210! Surely, that can't be right? Here are my details:
Current Weight: 278 lbs
Goal Weight: 224 lbs
Height: 6 feet 5 inches
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 1965
How would you describe your normal daily activities?
Sedentary: Spend most of the day sitting (e.g. bank teller, desk job)
How many times a week do you plan on exercising?
3 workouts / week 20 min. / workout

how many pounds/week did you say you wanted to lose?0

That doesn't sound close to being right. I would re-do0

Did you accidentally say you wanted to gain instead of lose?0

You're probably at 2400ish.0

Go to MY HOME > Settings> Update diet/fitness profile
Check all your entries....especially your height. Sounds like a data entry error.0 -
Check what you entered again. It looks like you may of accidentally set it to gain weight instead of lose.0

Given your stats that sounds quite high for weight loss. I'd suggest checking your settings. My stats are close to yours and I'm around 2200. Perhaps you've set it gain weight?0

Ah, OK -- I think I've found a bug with the system. I had entered my weight in kilo then went into settings nad switched to pounds and it somehow converted my weight to 678lbs!! (OK, I feel like I'm 678 pounds some days, but I'm not even close to half that!)
I've reset my weight and now I'm getting a sensible 2300 calorie target.
(Which is a shame, as 4200 cals sounded real good ;-)
Thanks!0 -
Age, weight, sex, activity level all are factors used in the calorie calculator equation. Your exercise time per week is very low. The only way you could reach this level, it to input a very high activity level in calculator.
The calculator targets a weight loss of 1 pound pound per week typically. This means that your daily intake is 500kcal less than burn rate. Therefore, if the calculator indicates you to consume 4,100kcal per day, a burn rate of 4,600kcal is expected.
Unless you have a construction job that involves heavy lifting or physical labor of more than 3 hours per day, you will not come close to 4,600kcal per day calorie burn rate. Exercising an hour per week does not alter burn rate per day signficantly.
A light or sedentary schedule (office or computer job) will consume approximatly 2,500 kcal per day. You should target 1,900 per day calorie intake to meet pound per week weight loss.
Re-input your personal information as some entry is probably wrong..
Hope this helps,
