What was your "a ha" moment?

For those of you trying to lose weight and are on a road to a healthy lifestyle, what was your "a ha" moment when you realized what you were doing needed to change?
I had a moment last summer when we took the kids to an amusement park and I had to let them ride a rollercoaster on their own because I couldn't get the seatbelt to buckle. I'm not the type of person who gets embarrassed easily. I don't give a rat's patootie what people think of me.....but when I had to get off of that rollercoaster I felt so awful. What bothered me the most wasn't that other people saw the fat lady not able to ride. What bothered me the most was seeing my children look at me with such saddness. They felt so bad for me. I told them I was okay and to enjoy the ride. And they did.
When the ride came to a stop and they were waiting to get off, there were four girls sitting ahead of my kids and they all looked over at me and yelled "you're beautiful. we love you". Girls I didn't even know. Knew I was sad and yelled that to make me feel better. They got off the ride before my kids did and all four of them ran up and gave me a hug. Such good girls. Sweet kids do exist. When my kids got off the ride, my youngest was crying. He was sad for me. He is a sweet soul and he was so upset that his mom was upset.
That was my A Ha moment. We go to this amusement park every other year because of my job. So summer of 2014 - I am going to get my *kitten* on that rollercoaster and that seatbelt will buckle and I'm going to scream my head off because it's a scary ride.....but I'm gonna do it and I'm going to prove to my children that you can do whatever you set your mind too. I tell them all the time that there is nothing they can't accomplish if they want it bad enough. I'm going to prove by example.

I'm proud of you and I dont even know you! I had a related aha moment. My daughter was seven months old and my husband deployed to Afghanistan for the third time in three years. I was talking to her one day while making dinner and I said, "hopefully you will get Daddy's physical discipline and dedication because Mommy only wishes she was the health and fitness type". It stuck in my mouth and I realized that I couldn't just HOPE that my baby gets the GENES for discipline in taking care of one's body.... If I wanted her to not suffer with poor body image her whole life like me, I had to be a model for her in doing what you need to do to be healthy and caring for your body because my husband is just not available for 9 months out of every year. So I made some slow changes for a couple of months, got down to my pre pregnancy weight (which was still overweight) and then I have lost 30 pounds since then. She is 16 months old now, and when I do crunches and pushups and squats, she does them with me with her cute baby legs. It makes me happy to know that she sees exercise as fun!0
