Muscles: Sexy on both sexes. Agree or disagree?

I'm currently taking a class on body image. A survey we went over claimed that most women concentrate more on the numbers on the scale then how they look. Which I agree and disagree with, My opnion is that most young women (pre-teen to 30s) care more about being 'small' and thin'.
My personal opinion is that muscle is sexy. On both men and women. I want to be firm and solid, shapely and sensual...and I feel being 'thin and pointy' just isnt the way to go. I also feel being healthy on the inside is very important.
I cant really say what the polls say on how MEN feel about themselves...we actually havent gotten that far yet. (I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE OPINIONS ON THAT PLEASE!!)
But I feel a man should be strong and capable. Mass is wasted if there is no practical strength behind it.
I DO NOT want this to turn into a debate. I just want to see how others feel on the topic of Body Image and the Sexes.
Thanks everyone!

I agree with you. I find muscles sexy on both men and women. I think women who are toned and have some muscles look much better than women who are thin.0

I agree. Both sexes look better with muscles.0

I totally agree with you. I think both men and women look best with nice toned muscles.0

I don't think excessive muscles on either sex are sexy, and never have. I appreciate, and would LOVE to have, firm 'defined' muscle, 6 pack abs, no cellulite, but not bulging muscles all over. I think some people look like stuffed sausages with some of the muscles. I don't like the people that you can see muscle on muscle even when they aren't flexing.0

I think toned muscle on women is sexy. Boney is not.
For myself I try not to focus too much on physical appearance and mass, but instead focus on longevity and healthy habits. I watch my weight through diet (as in healthy eating, not starving) and exercise. I've taken up yoga to increase flexibility so I don't get injured as often in sports with the hope of playing until an old age. It is hard not to care about physical appearance as you're about to get in the shower though, so I try to at least keep my body ... um, proportional?
Hope that provides some insight. You may find some differences in peoples approach to fitness and appearance if you look at education level as well.0 -
Seeing a guy who's ripped and can make a pirate ship tattoo jump over waves on his biceps-- HOT
Seeing a ripped chic-- NOT
Seeing a toned, strong, softly defined chic-- HOT.
I want to be the toned, strong, softly defined chic. Body builder chics are kinda freaky. JMHO.0 -
Muscles on both sexes are hot/sexy, to a degree. Bodybuilder style muscles are unattractive on girls and guys, but a nicely toned dancer's body is very nice.0

I think that muscles on both sexes are sexy! I love to see that waman aren't afraid of being strong and shapely. I absolutely love a well defined man. I think the only thing I don't like about it is when the men are uneven. You know when the upper body is bigger than the lower lol. But I love muscle non the less.
Just my 2 cents

I agree with the other posters that there is a line that can cross into too big. But, muscles are sexy on both - and I am happy to have discovered my muscles. )0

There are a few fem. body-types that to me are extra sexy, but they all have one thing on common... healthy looking. So that could be a very wirey toned woman perhaps more into endurance sports, or someone who genetically is more stocky muscular. Or 'curvy' but fit and healthy. It's an overall picture of strong and healthy. So muscles are sexy, other than the real extremes that are generally drug induced or the result of real extremes of body-building. A friend of mine who was very successful in "natural" (drug-free) competitive body building looks nothing like those bizarre images one sometimes sees.
Lean muscular, with good symmetry, in my opinion looks best on guys, and it's where I hope I am heading. Reasonably happy with progress, it takes time, but I think I can attain a physique an old fart can be pretty pleased with. But it slightly amuses me in the gym listening to younger guys wondering how to get "big". If I only ended up 77 kg but ripped I'd be really happy, I simply love that light strong feeling doing everyday things.0 -
I think women are sexy with muscles, but not crazy muscles. My ideal body would be something like holly madisons, so has a flat stomach, but not really abs, and she has a booty and nice shaped arms. I will nbever have legs like hers, because mine are too muscley. Marilyn Monroe's body is just simply fantastic and I would kill for a body like hers. Britney spears(pre breakdown) had a NICE body too and she wasn't super thin or boney. I believe every girl should have a butt, and most thin girls jsut dont. I don't think they shouldn't be lanky, they should have curves(meat)
as for guys....I'm ALL ABOUT thick arms and legs, and i love a guy with a nice back(booty and literal back) and i like a guy with pecks. But one thing that isn't really "all that" to me is abs. They are great becasue it shows how hard you work for your body, but i like a little something i can pinch on a guy. I like guys that have really big abs but a little fat over the top of them(not pot bellied by any mean, i mean a little layer of fat that i can love pinch) I do not like chicken legs on a guy, because that just makes me feel like mine look like tree trunks because mine are short and thick. Timberland is a prime example of what i'm talking about. But if a guy had abs, that doens't bother me either, just as long as he ins't cocky about it and trying to show them off all the time and always putting baby oil or something on them haha(I dated a guy like that once....said he had to put baby oil on them and rub himself down because he was "too ashy")0 -
On both sexes I think muscles are sexy.....
Women- as long as they aren't sticks and they aren't overly musclar/scary. I know my nordic heritage means I will never be tiny dancer type, so my ideal is lean, muscles, but still womanly/with curves.
Men...same thing...minus the womanly/with curves thing! I am not attracted to skinny guys--i.e. even the type of guy with the runner's build. I like a bit more "meat." Hahaha. Nice shoulders, arms, no sticks for legs, and guy must have some butt (I hate flat butt.). I never really thought I like overly muscle-y guys, but my brother started doing Strongman competitions years ago and I have to say, there are some that are, hmmm, very attractive!
That's not too picky, huh?0 -
I think a lean, muscular body is sexy on anyone! :bigsmile:0
