Most romantic thing someone ever did for you
I hear so much frustration and anger on the forums about a SO or guy/girl that upset someone...
So I've decided to focus on the positive.
What's the most romantic/sweet thing a guy/girl (husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend etc) has ever done for you?
My husband on our first Valentine's Day as a married got up after I fell asleep. He put flowers and notes around the house to every place he knew I would go before I went to the gym in the morning...(countertop of my bathroom, on the hood of my car, in the refrigerator)...each note said something he loved about me.
Ok, your turn! Share the love.

I like this!
One year my boyfriend got me a trip to Mexico for my birthday. He took me out to dinner and gave a small box, and told me to pull the string (knowing him, who knew what the hell would happen when I pulled the string!!). A little slit ripped in the wrapping paper on the top of the box, and small pictures were attached to the string. The first was a palm tree. I kept pulling, then it was a picture of a passport, etc. There must have been about 15 pictures. Then at the end was our itinerary for the trip. My guy is completely UNromantic, so I was extremely touched that he put the time into that for me.
I secretly wish that someday he will propose to me like that, only the ring will be tied to the end, but who knows!0 -

Awwwwaaaahhhhh!!!! Oh my gosh that is so sweet...and I hear you on the not romantic thing. My hubby kind of "spreads it out", as he says. He's not consistently/constantly romantic, but once in a while he'll surprise me. He said it's more special that way.
Who knows-proposals are usually romantic...I'm sure he'll think of something special when that day comes.
My dad got my mom a trip to Ireland for their 25th anniversary. She always wanted to go and meet her relatives...he bought her a new shamrock plant and hid a toy airplane in it...The picture of when she understood what it was is so precious...one of my favorite pictures of her. Pure joy.0 -
When I was a single mom...I went on a first date with a guy...
It was a nice dinner out and we easily talked a few hours away. While in our talking he mentioned a breakfast place that was his go to place and raved about it...said I should really check it out. The next morning was a Saturday, and I knew he was already at work...so my oldest daughter(17) and I wanted to go to breakfast...so I thought...why not try the place...
So we were sitting there...and I jokingly texted him a picture of the menu and said" It had better be as good as you said!"
So we ate breakfast...it was very good...waitress brings our bill....but we were still finishing...within a minute she came and grabbed it back...
My daughter looked puzzled...I just figured she forgot to put something on it...
She comes back and says "you guys are all set...Tom called in and paid your bill"
My jaw dropped! My daughter exclaims....OMG mom...that is so awesome...I like him already ...you so SOOOO go on a second date with him!
To which the waitress exclaims...OMG you went on a first date with TOM!!! pushes my daughter over on her bench seat and proceeds to ask all about the date and rave that everyone there loves him and I SOOO should give him a chance etc ect
Craziest thing that ever happened to me...lol
That was a year and a half ago...and we just got married He is a keeper for sure...
Best thing that has ever happened to me and my 4 kids

My boyfriend in college was going on a week-long trip with his fraternity, and before he left, he came by my place and gave me a stack of CDs he had made. He said "This is every song that's ever made me think about you."0

My husband and I started 'talking' while he was in the Navy and on deployment. (We already knew each other from high school, but had lost touch and found each other through social websites many years later).
For our first date, he flew me to Portugal for 5 days, and put me up in a hotel. It was flowers and romance and fine dining for five whole days. It was a dream. Needless to say, he could never take me on another vacation in my whole life, and the memory of our first date will make it all okay.0 -
I'm waiting for a guy to chime in. I have a feeling the things we remember are a bit less "romantic"0

Well, my hubby is not on this site, but I can give a story on his behalf?
We did long distance for over a year. He lived in Maryland and I lived out in Washington State (literally coast to coast). I used to send him emails, texts, voicemails...just little notes (things I loved about him, favorite memories, things he may not know about how I felt, etc.) One day, he jokingly said I should put it in a book.
So that' s just what I did. Our first Valentine's day, I had bought a scrap book. I wrote on every single page and also added pockets for the love letters I sent, put pictures in there, etc. I sent that and a box of homemade chocolate covered oreos for his first valentine's day gift.0 -
This has never happened, quite this way with me but this is what I'd LOVE.
Make arrangements for the kids to be taken care of. Come by my office in a limo (with champagne of course) and sweep me away to the beach for a beachfront room with a jacuzzi for the weekend.
Surprise me.0 -
Threesome0

She gave me a blumpkin...it was so romantic0

These stories are making me all teary-eyed. Love it!
I met my husband shortly after he'd returned from Iraq after being injured by an IED. He received a Purple Heart for that injury. We had been dating a few weeks, and he invited me over to watch movies with him at the barracks. When it was time for me to leave, he got up to walk me to my car like always. This time, he told me to wait a sec while he got something from his room. It was dark and rainy as he walked me to my car. When we got there, he told me to hold out my hand. I did and he put something in it. I looked and saw it was his Purple Heart. He said, "I want you to have this because you have filled a void in my heart." I think I cried all the way home, lol.0 -

That's like movie love right there. You should write a screenplay0 -
i was having a particularly bad day. nothing was going right. i talked to my husband on the phone and told him i just wanted to come home and do nothing, just leave all the chores for tomorrow.
the house was pretty messy, the place needed to be vacuumed and the dishes needed to be done. so i walk in to the house after my hard day and i see my husband vacuuming the floor! he sat me on the couch, brought me a cold drink. propped my feet up. he had done all the dishes and had dinner in the oven.
i was so happy i actually had tears in my eyes. it was the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me. and since he got such a good response, he does this all the time now.. its awesome.0 -

You know, sometimes those simple things-not really grand gestures-are the most romantic things they can do for you...similar story.
I had just moved out to be with my (then) boyfriend (now hubby) and was extremely sick (Got sick the DAY I started the three day trip out here...lost my voice almost entirely). I told him "I don't feel like cooking. Maybe we can just order a pizza." He said not to worry and just come home.
I drove home after work to find him in the kitchen. If you knew him, you'd see why this is such a big deal. He only knows how to make a couple things...and this was "crack" pasta...a cold pasta salad that he makes sometimes. He already had it made and dished out with a glass of wine for me...
Small gestures sometimes mean a ton.0 -
My boyfriend and I are bother gamers, we love video games. Near Christmas time he gave me an early gift, I opened to find a unique ring, silver ring on the outside with a black small ring that fits in the inside of the silver. The silver has engraved "To my Player 2" and the black has engraved "From your Player 1" :]0

i came home one day to find verses of an original (cheesy, sweet) poem taped up around my apt. that was 3 bfs ago and nothing's topped it yet... :grumble:0

K so my checklist now has
1. Clean the house
2. Say something romantic
3. Be Spontaneous
4. Be naked and do the helicopter...k may leave that one out.
Actually real nice stories, I'd like to be a romantic but most of the time the things I would try would backfire somehow. Glad to hear the stories0 -

Here's a good one...wasn't something my hubby did for me, but something my dad did for my mom (in case you can't tell, he IS a hopeless romantic)
My dad wanted to do a picnic for himself and my mom for one of their anniversaries. There's a gorgeous canyon not far from our house (my old home in MT) and several dirt roads that go off of it into private/secluded areas. He got all the stuff he needed to make lobster and grilled steaks...champagne, nice dessert, etc. We helped him set up and warned him that it looked like rain-he wanted to do it anyway. So he set up while we drove back home to get our mom, blindfolded so she wouldn't know where we were taking her.
By the time we arrived at the picnic site, it was pouring rain. My dad had the trunk of the van propped up for some shelter...and he was standing there with flowers and a large umbrella.
My mom loved it...later it turned south because of the weather conditions, but it was still cute LoL0 -
She gave me a blumpkin...it was so romantic
hahahah thats gruesome0 -
i havent had the chance for something spectacular yet like most of you, but for my senior prom the way i asked my gf, at the time, was pretty cute. I told her i wasnt going to do anything special, that we were just bound to go because we were bf and gf so she kind of got upset...but that was apart of my plan...so she would always run at night at our schools stadium because she did cross country and track and i would go with her and one of the nights i bought a whole bunch of cheap candles and i put them on the stadium benches and spelled out "PROM?" sort of like this
but it lit and filled the whole section of the stadium. it was pretty romantic she started tearing...it felt like we were about to get married or something haha0 -
I always wished I'd gotten to go to Prom...stuck up private school didn't have Prom
That is very romantic0 -
During my last year of high school, I was casually seeing this guy. Our favourite thing to do was get Chinese take out and watch "Who's Line is it Anyway". One day, we picked up the Chinese food & headed back to his parents to eat & watch the show.
It came time to open the fortune cookie and I cracked mine open to find a personalized fortune "I would like to take our relationship to the next level, will you be my girlfriend?". He went out of his way to drop off the handmade fortune at the restaurant and they obliged his request to sneak it in the cookie. It was SO cute so of course I said 'yes'.
We remain very close friends to this day (he's on MFP too...wonder if he'll see this?)0 -
Really sweet thread.0

Aww this is so sweet and romantic. But I cant really add to it tho. I am sorry. Nothing romantic ever happened with me. BOO.0
