I also have PCOS, and insuline resisitant. First time around I did a wonderful job. I was able to lose 54 pounds in 8 months. After having a baby in September I have had such a difficult time losing. But I have faith that eventually something will turn on my lose mode soon. Best of luck on your journey!0

My success is a work in progress! I've known I've had PCOS for a year with the added metabolic syndrome... I gave up for a while, but now I am back on track and getting in shape so that I have a better chance of conceiving. I stopped taking metformin and birth control so I am now trying to balance my body naturally with natural supplements/vitamins and good healthy habits. Don't compare yourself with friends that don't have PCOS symptoms, I think that can be the most frustrating because often our journey is slower and takes more hard work than others to get the pounds off. Best of luck to you!0

Questions for all of the ladies that have PCOS....How did you know? I'm wondering if I may have this. I've always been overweight but my weight was distributed evenly. But within the last yr I'm noticing the majority of my weight is in my stomach area...I just had my sister take before pics of me & I look at least 7 months pregnant. Also, I have noticed a light brown patch on my neck that kinda looks like a cluster of freckles. Btw, this is the most i've ever weighed. I'm 25 and have 1 child. Any advice?0

I just wanted to chime in, and share that I have had success using the "Insulin Resistance Diet" (I purchased the book by Cheryle Hart on Amazon.)
Essentially, it involves "linking and balancing" your meals by ensuring that you balance at least 7 grams of protein with every 15 grams of net carbohydrates consumed. There is a suggested max of 30 grams of net carbohydrates at one sitting, with exceptions being made for the carbohydrates from most vegetables, some low GI fruits, and low-fat plain dairy. It is carb-limiting by design, but not necessarily low-carb.
I'm a poor explainer, so it probably sounds a bit confusing, but it is really very easy once you get the basic concept down. The weight is slowly coming off, but most importantly I feel so much better. When I eat this way my blood sugar feels stabilized, I am not constantly hungry and actually feel satisfied after my meals.
Just wanted to share what's working for me. Wishing you all the best.0 -

Hey there, I have PCOS and have recently seen a dietician so can share the advice that she gave me if anyone would like me to. It would also be nice to have friends on here that are going through the same sort of things and understand that it will take longer for the weight to come off. Feel free to add me.0

I have PCOS too and to be honest what worried me most about it was being told that it would be difficult for me to have children. That being said I'm so relieved to see so many posts about successful pregnancies on here! The weight is just one factor for me, I've always wanted a family!!0

I kicked PCOS' punk azz. It may be harder, but it's nowhere near impossible.

That one note caught my eye. I was diagnosed with a weird skin condition whose long name escapes me at the moment. It caused my skin to kind of "overgrow" and become thick, dry, and dirty-looking (my mother was forever convinced I did not scrub hard enough in the shower...). I got it all over the back of my neck, my armpits, and a little bit over my stomach. It was a side effect. Nothing deadly, just rather aesthetically displeasing. Anyway, the weight came off and now my skin is looking just like it should in every nook and cranny!0 -

I have PCOS and have been taking metformin for 10 years. I started this journey wearing a size 18/20. I just got back from a shopping trip to purchase dress slacks for a new job starting next month. I was floored to discover I am comfortable wearing a size 8!!! NEVER in my adult life have I been this small. Oh, by the way, I turned 50 in April. So, if people tell you that both PCOS and age make it harder to lose weight, they are wrong!0

As far as I know I only have that small little area on my neck...no where else. Actually, I basically can't even see it at the moment. I don't know what's going on.0

I was diagnosed years ago by a nurse practitioner, my OB-GYN (who I dumped over something totally unrelated) never once mentioned it. She sent me to a specialist and she was a wonderful Indian woman who would always look over my face for the HAIRS- mine are light though and I keep them plucked. She moved to Missouri, but before she went she lectured me on potatoes- she would say NO POTATOES! NONE! and I would argue with her. I miss her!
My last testosterone test came back normal, and I went off Metformin due to elevated liver enzymes (I decided to drop all meds) and so far I'm regular. I am done with the baby making, I have two great boys- the last was helped along with the Clomid.
I have slowly been losing, so I guess if I dropped more carbs I would lose faster.
Feel free to add me, fellow cysters.0 -
Diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago. I just pick up walking again for the couple of weeks. Before that, my weight was stable for a half year even eating crap. Now that I'm walking I gained 1.3 kg!!! >< Veryyyy discouraging. I didn't change my diet, my clothes doesn't feel lose. I feel kinda bloated, I see it in my face. I don't take metformin, only vitamin B-complex. I quit taking Vitamin D, Calcium, Magnesium and Omega 3 a couple of weeks. Why did I gain weight???? And how do you ladies stay motivated? I haven't give up walking yet...0
