PMS Frustration!

Now that I've scared all the men away, LOL, can anyone relate to my issue? Here it is: I have PMS for almost 2 weeks before I start, and I have wicked cravings. Even if I am somehow able to overcome my cravings and stay within my caloric intake goal, I still do not lose weight, and I often gain. I know this is from water retention but it is still frustrating! I have been at the exact same weight for the past 10 days of being pretty close to goal with my diet and exercise program.
Once I finally start, I feel like I use the next two weeks to lose what I gained from PMS (sometimes I'm lucky and lose a bit more), just to have it start all over again the following month. It seems like two steps forward and one step back.
How do I get off this roller-coaster ride?

I've heard more than once (and tried it myself and it works well for me), that the secret to combat water retention is actually to drink MORE water. It sounds weird and counterproductive, but it works. The idea is that, whenever you retain water, your body thinks it's not getting enough and holds it in to save for later so you don't die of thirst. Your fluctuating hormones set this off, even when you think you're already drinking alot.
Drink more water and clear fluids. Stay away from alcohol and tea for this time period.0 -
There's also a few PMS teas out there that don't have caffeine in them but do have some herbs (I'm thinking saw palmetto but I could be off on that....and also dandelion root) which help with pms water retention and also cramps. Yogi tea makes an organic one but I've seen a few other ones at GNC and also Fred Meyer.

That's fantastic progress then. Lots of people do two forward and two back. Good for you.0 -
You're not the only one. Only since I have been on MFP have I discovered that I gain 5-6 lbs every month! I gained that while sticking to my calorie goals! It was so disheartening at first, but working up a good sweat a few times the week before and during, and drinking lots and lots of water helps. Most importantly, I try to stick to the calorie limits so that after my cycle is done I can see the scale numbers drop back down0
