This may be a little long so I'll start with what I want to say last first: Thank you my fitness pal members!

You may not know it but you are giving people gifts with your knowledge.

I have been on here over a month and just read yesterday to search the forms first so there isn't double info out there.
So I want to thank some of you for posting more than once the same advice.

You taking the time to give advice is such a gift. It takes a little stress away from this fitness thing knowing I don't have to try to survive on 1200 cals, so your saving me stress. You have helped me with my routine. I have learnt terminology, and so much information that will lead not only to better health but an easier maintenance.

With the info you gave me and the success I have had I have been able to assist others in finding the info you gave me. I am not ready to give it out first hand yet but as I gain more knowledge and go through my journey I hope to be able to be a wealth of information.

When you take a second to make a post it can really simplify their journey and make such an impact. So for all of the members who are active on message boards YOU ROCK! And a big thank-you for putting up with all us newbies, our questions and everything!

Cheers! Shame that angry people threads go for pages and pages and polite things like this drift past unnoticed. I say "you're welcome" and "thank you" at the same time :flowerforyou:

YES. Without others giving frank, unsugar-coated advice I'd still be at least 20lbs heavier.

    You ROCK!

How did everyone miss this yesterday? We must've all been busy posting in "people are so mean" threads!

Interesting how the complainers have dozens of pages of responses, but a nice, polite, thoughtful post such as this doesn't even make it to one page. THANK YOU for your thank you!!

thank you to the OP for being so wonderful! people do spend way too much time being mean (boo) and snarky (somewhat of a yay) to realize that there are amazing people on MFP with amazing advice :)

MFP absolutely changed the way I look at fitness and nutrition. There is some amazing information on here given by amazing people. I'm glad that you are finding the same wonderfulness that I did. Kind of makes success inevitable. :drinker:

I came here in 2007, 55 pounds heavier and really clueless about weight loss and nutrition. Heck, I was still in denial about how I had gotten so big, but I knew calories were the key to the whole thing.

There weren't as many knowledgeable people here back then but there were many and they were generous with their knowledge when I had a couple questions. Mostly, I would read everything I could find.

I appreciate them and the help they gave. There are lots of generous people here who are willing to help.

    Nice post, OP.

I agree! It seems others would prefer to complain about how mean people here are, rather than use the search function and find a WEALTH of knowledge at their disposal. It's a shame, really!

    Great post! :flowerforyou:

If not for some MFP members, I never would have tried lifting, or become a runner. I would have no idea that you can eat the occasional treat like eggs benedict while on a deficit. I probably would have bailed by now.

Like the OP, I owe so many here so much.

REALTALK: whenever I see something new in fitness, curious about a technique, supplement etc etc, I plug it in the MFP message board search and VOILA!! Instant real world, unbiased feedback from normal human beings. I prefer a direct Bish slap in the face with knowledge.

MFP has changed my life, and I am grateful every day that I came to this site. I am even more thankful for my own little FL who inspire me, love me, diss me, cheer me on, and give me a good smack when I need it.

    Thank you:flowerforyou:

Completely agree. Thanks to MFP members I am eating properly, living life, getting stronger and losing fat. Before I read and listened I was spiralling down into a pretty bad place. Yay for straight talking people who care enough to say the only thing wrong with an egg is there isn't 2 of them!
