Please feel free to add me. I older than you are, an inch shorter than you are. I started out at 302 lbs or so at the end of last October a few weeks after my fiftieth birthday, and I had had enough of being out of shape. I ma now down to 258 lbs. My goal is to be down to between 185 and 192 by my fifty-first birthday.

Feel free to add me as a friend.

Congrats on joining MFP you wlll find a lot of support here...

Sounds good my friend. Just make sure you're not hungry. :) I was super strict for a while and then realized I need to relax and eat.

Wow, add 3 years and my stats are pretty similar...I just turned 27. I'm ~ 6' tall, and I'm about 260 lbs with a goal of 180.

I herniated a disc in my lower back earlier this year, and it led to me dropping my "weight loss" thing. I started out at about 280 last year, got down to maybe 240 - 245, and then ballooned back up when I hurt my back. I'm just making excuses, but now I am more determined than ever to get down to where I need to be.

I know I have the willpower to do it as I quit smoking on May 5th cold turkey. I know it hasn't been that long but if I can do that, then I know that you and I can both get healthier!

    Here's my diet:

    Breakfast:
    1 Apple
    1 light yogurt
Coffee with 1tsp of sugar and a little bit of light creamer

    Lunch:
    1 packet of oatmeal
    1 granola bar
Sometimes a banana if I get too hungry at work

    Dinner:
Usually a meat, a vegetable, and rice. I try and always do brown rice, but my wife gets sick of it. Tonight I had italian sausage, broccoli, and buffalo rice. A buddy of mine eats quinoa, I may drop the rice and do that instead.

That leaves me with some wiggle room for snacks later in the day (I get off work at 3pm and usually eat around 4) such as carrots, high fiber cereal with 2% milk, etc.

I can't lift really, but I have been taking my dog on a 30 minute walk every night this week.

Good luck to you, I know that you can do this and I'm always around to talk if you have any questions!
