things to do instead of binging?

Hi. I'm a recovering bulimic so it's hard for me to not binge. During my recovery I've gained a lot of weight, and I would like to lose it and be healthy! But often I find myself getting the urge to binge and purge. Anyone have any tips to not binge or things to do instead of binging? Thank you (: .x

Your goal is 98 lbs??? Honey, unless you're 4'10, that's not a healthy goal. Are you seeing a therapist?

this is going to sound crazy but have you though about taking up a hobby to do with your hands....

    something like cross-stitching or scrapbooking?

in the past I have picked up easy cross-stitch packets from places like Michaels or Hobby Lobby. when I get the urge to just binge, I do that instead...

it keeps my hands and my brain busy as you have to follow the pattern...and in the end you get something that you get to keep. they make great gifts for friends and family...and you made it yourself...
  • Not that I can come close to even identify with your struggle and it's difficulty, I can offer this. I am the queen of eating while I am sitting still and not doing anything. At night, when I would typically consume most of my calories from mindless eating of junk, I have now started to crochet when I want to eat for the sake of eating. It keeps my hands busy, and I choose patterns that I haven't done before so my mind is also occupied. Before long I'm too involved in my project to think about the sweet stuff I'm craving.
