Hello,
Here is another Low Carb bread recipe I found on the internet and decided to give it a try:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (85g) Ground Almonds
- 2/3 cup (65g) Gold Milled Flaxseed
- 1/3 cup (40g) Vital Wheat Gluten
- 1/3 cup (25g) Vanilla Whey Protein
- 2 tsp Splenda
- 4 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 cup (115g) Shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup (40g) Butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream or Milk and 1/4 cup Water (1/2 Cup Mixture)
Instructions:
1. Mix all the dry ingredients together
2. Beat the eggs, add Milk and Water then add to the dry mixture and mix well
3. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C)
4. Grease the 8x8inch square baking tray, put the batter in it and spread evenly
5. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes
6. Let it cool down and then cut as desired
7. Enjoy
Servings: 8 slices (depends on how you cut it - the original recipe mentions 12 slices so the nutrition values per slice would be much lower)
Nutrition (1 slice):
Calories: 253
Protein: 16g
Fat: 20g
Carbs: 2g
Fibre: 3g
Sugar: 1g
You can add some topping if you want (I added flaked almonds).
Strangely the bread smells and tastes a bit like a ginger cake

is this a paleo food?
Considering that this is low carb/ high fat recipe I would say yes however it contains cheese, butter and milk which are diary products and not allowed in Paleo so can't be 100% sure.
EDIT: just read on some websites that apparently Paleo diet gives you a flexibility when it comes to diary products so if that's the case then YES0 -

Ok here's my take because I do eat Paleo.
This bread is not Paleo-friendly. Reasons:
- 1/3 cup (40g) Vital Wheat Gluten
- 1 cup (115g) Shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup (40g) Butter
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream or Milk and 1/4 cup Water (1/2 Cup Mixture)
Yes, while dairy is acceptable for "Primal" eaters, Paleo eaters will avoid it. Then there's the wheat gluten. That's an absolute no-no for Primal as well as Paleo eaters.0
