Victories You've Earned, Things Yet To Be Achieved

Options
1. List 5 benefits/victories you've earned as a result of weight loss/or a healthier lifestyle (anything)

2. List 5 goals you still want to achieve.

I was watching the show Ruby, and something struck me deeply. She was feeling frustrated over her lack of fast progress, despite the fact that she had already lost 100+ pounds and was making long strides. As an outsider looking in, it was easy for me to see how successful her journey was. However, I realized that i often feel the same way towards myself, having lost 50 pounds but maintaing the same weight for a year now.

There are so many things that we have accomplished, or pounds that we have lost, yet it's easy to be discouraged when you encounter the smallest setback. I think it would be very helpful to think of all of the fantastic benefits you've received as a result of dedication and hard work. Sometimes, we do not give ourselves credit, and negative attitudes certainly push you back and hinder your progress, when they aren't motivating you to propel forward.

So here's mine.

1. I never have to worry about clothes not being in my size at most retail stores.
2. I am wearing shorts in the summer and tights in the winter, which I was too self conscious about in the past.
3. I can finally see my collarbones, for the first time (strange, you never think of that)
4. My skin has cleared up and I feel better when I eat healthier, I had persistent acne as a teenager.
5. My family has a horrible health record and I have reduced %s of diabetes/heart disease/etc dramatically!

1. I still have a long ways to go, as I am still overweight. I want to be healthy.
2. I want to be able to run longer and to do a pull-up.
3. To be able to see my thighs instead of always seeing my stomach first.
4. To make a great example to my family, who are mostly morbidly overweight.
5. To wear a pair of jeans that is not considered plus sized.

I think this is a great thread! You've done amazing so far! I've only lost about 9/10 pounds but so far...

    Benefits:

    - I don't crave junk food nearly as much as I used to.
    - My stomach is flat when I stand up.
    - I feel more comfortable with the way I look.

    Goals
    - Reach my goal weight.
    - Reduce my body fat percentage
    - Become much fitter (by picking up running)
    - Get stronger
    - Feel happy when I look in the mirror

I'm just starting over again, but benefits from other times I've lost weight:
    1. Getting hit on.
    2. The way my clothes fit.
    3. Being able to run longer.
    4. Seeing my stomach flatten <<this is probably my favorite part about losing weight.
    5. Not having to be so picky about the angle of the camera in order to look good in pictures.

    Goals:
    1. Throw out ALL my "fat clothes."
    2. Not be self conscious about changing around other people.
    3. Flat stomach.
    4. Never be afraid to have my picture taken.
    5. Be able to borrow clothes from my cousin.

    Progress:
    1. Getting faster! Broke 10 minutes for a mile for the first time this week; cut 13 minutes off my half-marathon record two weeks ago.
    2. Bought Size 8 pants last week.
    3. My stomach fat is finally going away! It's not gone, but it is shrinking.
    4. Beginning to see some arm definition. Yay, 30DS!
    5. When I look in the mirror at the gym, the reflection surprises me. In a good way. My home mirror doesn't do this!

    Goals:
    1. Now I need to hold under 10 minutes for 3.1 miles in a row, and break 30 minutes for 5K.
    2. Forget pants--I want a bikini.
    3. Stomach. Flat. Make it happen.
    4. Finish 30DS and learn how to lift.
    5. Look better in all mirrors. And photographs.

I think we can all relate to that, weight loss or not. I would love to feel alright about tagged photos on Facebook. Thank goodness there is a moderation option!
