Hip pain for new runner

I started c25k on Monday and do it every other day. I've been starting it out really slowly because I've never been a runner and then I do yoga on my off days. Anyhoo, today I noticed I have a slight pain in my left hip. It doesn't hurt when I walk or when I'm running but it hurts if I sit down for awhile. It's not an unbearable pain it's just slightly annoying. It could just be the stool I sit on most of the time when I'm at work. But I couldn't help but wonder if it could be stemmed from my newly acquired running habit. Is slight hip pain normal for a new runner?

Stretch is all I can say. I suffer from leg pain every night. I jog daily and I too used to never jog. The pain is unbareable but don't let it stop you.0

COngrats on starting C25K! I'm doing it as well & have never been a runner or athletic in any way & I love it. I'm on week 5. Initially I was getting some aching in my hips as well, I had to take 2 days off between runs for a while & I had to slow down my running, even slower than I was going to begin with, which was pretty slow. It got better, my hips are good now. I still get a bit of lower leg pain but It improves with every run & I ice it after every run, that really helps. You may want to try some ice on your hip? THIS!!!!! Go get fit for running shoes at a store that specializes in running. Don't just buy shoes off the rack. You need to make sure you have the right shoes for your stride, gait and footfall.0 -

Its not always your runners, I have an unstable pelvis and omg the pain caused by running, in my pelvis, my hips, and driving pains down my legs because of this. But I recognised it for what it was, needing to get used to the actual act of running. If you're a newbie then yes, everything has to get used to what you are doing.
For sure if you have crappy runners, get new ones, but also research correct running style, and posture, and don't give up. I find with every new thing I do, there are some issues till you get stronger and get used to it.

I don't sleep on my side all night. I toss and turn a lot so my sleeping position changes a lot during the night. As for shoes I researched running shoes before I bought mine because I knew how important the shoes were to prevent injury. So I mean it might be the shoes because I might have gotten some research wrong. So I don't know I think it might be a mixture of all of the above.0

I used to run 15 miles a day in high school but got sidelined because my hip pain became so bad I felt like I couldn't walk. Led me to believe I couldn't continue running and I was very depressed about it. Even went to physical therapy for it and was told not to run more than a few miles a day, but the pain still continued. What I've learned was that I had Hip Bursitis, basically inflamed tight hip muscles. The thing is, the pain doesn't stop if you stop running for a long period of time, it'll still bother you on occasion. I wish I knew what I know now, constant obsessive hip stretching really does take away this pain, as it loosens the tight muscles.
