Needing to lose about 60 lbs. Anyone with similar goals?

Hey y'all! I'm at the heaviest I have ever been and am having a problem finding a method that works for me to lose the weight. I am a nontraditional college student, back in college at the age of 41 working toward my master's, so my lifestyle is fairly sedentary. I am 5'4 and currently about 191 lbs. Goal weight is somewhere around 130. If anyone has similar goals and can offer words of advice or just support, I'd greatly appreciate it! Feel free to add me as friends!

Hi! my stats are roughly similar; but yours are better than mine, haha. I'm 5'3 (used to be 5 4!), I'm also at an all time high of 201 lbs and despite lots of effort and motivation, I don't lose weight easily. Didn't have a weight problem until I hit 35 and since then, it seems that the more I try to lose, the bigger I get.

I'm currently doing a complete rethink, though, as I now believe that I've not been eating enough cals for many years, not that I counted them... I just don't seem to feel hungry. I joined MFL in March, after getting a FitBit and realising that my lifestyle was way to sedentary. I enjoy working out, but had to take a year out after surgery to both of my hands, each one taking 6 months to heal.

My goal weight is also similar, but I'm now focusing more on losing size as opposed to scale weight, because I'm just starting out with a weight lifting program, along with eating more food, as I think this is going to work. My weight has increased slightly yet I'm really shrinking, my measurements are all smaller than when I weighed less!

Honestly, I've tried many, many diets, low carb and high protein works best, but the VLCD (550 cals daily) was the only one that got me down to a healthy weight, except that once I tried eating regular food again, it didn't stay off.

Anyway, enough about me; I'm happy to encourage and support you, with whatever method you choose. I've sent a friend request, and am happy to share your journey!

Welcome. I share your stats. I am 4' 11 and shrinking (length wise, not width wise). I was at my heaviest over right before Christmas. Though I have been on this site since 2009, I have yet to actually go "b@lls to the wall" and get going with the program. I have lost 9 lbs, give or take. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bi-Polar Disorder, Cushing's Syndrome and PCOS. The meds I take pretty much put me against a rock and a hard place when it comes to losing weight. Last year, I was in the hospital for 3 months with septic pneumonia. I was in a coma for 21 days, then had seizures followed by a stroke. The worst part though was when I was rehabbing, I did not watch what I ate and gained back the 30 pounds I lost while in the coma PLUS 20 more pounds.

    What was I thinking???

Now, I'm back at it...again. My goal weight is 150 lbs. Yeah, on all of the charts, graphs, etc. that is still overweight, but I looked and felt my best whilst at that weight, so that is where I want to be again.

I am currently following the NROL4W workout program. I have a bad foot right now, (MRI on Tues) but once that's fixed, I will be back to my twice weekly Zumba. I'm also going to get back into the pool this week. I had to take a month off due to another round of mild pneumonia.

So welcome aboard. Feel free to share thoughts, concerns, vent your frustrations, or just gloat when you have some SV or NSV's.

Thanks for the support!! I am not familiar with all the abbreviation/terms yet, but I am sure I will learn what they all mean as I go along!! I have added those that requested and am excited to have others to talk with and give/get support!! My husband tries to give me support, but his way of doing it just makes me feel worse about myself. Bless his heart... he thinks he's doing good! I have a bad knee and an incisional hernia that I have to contend with when considering an exercise program. I can walk and do low impact exercises, but too much knee exercises and it just gives out. Not able to do core exercises that put strain on the abdomen due to the hernia. I was considering just doing weight lifting and treadmill, but a friend of mine suggested that I just use resistance exercises using my own body weight. Any thoughts on that?
