I have read many different things about weight loss and protein. Is it better to up my allowance for protein. I am trying to run 3 times per week, around 3 miles per run. 2 days a week I try and do ab work, push-ups, and lunges.I walk my dog about 45 minutes a day (X5), kids walk her on the weekend. I want to lose a minimum of 1 pound a week. What percentage of protein should I be getting? is 45% protein too much. I like protein, and it definitely helps me stay on track.

If you're losing weight you should aim for about one gram per pound of lean body mass.

I would also encourage you to incorporate more resistance training into your routine.

Eat close to your Lean body mass in protein. If you know your body fat%, it's easy, but if you don't, I would use your goal weight. So, I weigh 193 at 35 % BF, My goal weight is 150-160. so I try to get a minimum of 125g protein, but shoot for 150g. higher protein consumption will help you hang on to your muscle while you eat at a deficit and do cardio to burn fat.
