Hey everyone. I am in desperate need of other mom friends who also want to lose weight. I am having a terrible time controlling my hunger.
Before getting married I was 5'10 115lbs. I was really too too thin. I was able to get up to a healthy 145, size 6, before my wedding. Afterwards I moved away from all of my friends in family and the only thing to "do" was go out to eat. I got up to 160lbs. A bit heavier than I wanted to be at that time..
Then I got pregnant. I ended up having something called hyperemesis. I lost 30lbs in 3 weeks.. I had a PICC line and literally could not eat for 30 week, I only drank shakes. I had a slight pause around 30-35 weeks where I was told to gain as much weight as I could, at least 15lbs above prepregnancy weight, because of my extreme weight loss. I was able to get up to 180 by the day I had my son. (He was 7lbs!) Loosing the actual baby weight wasn't hard. By the time my son was 3 weeks old I was at 155lbs, 5lbs less than I was when I got pregnant. However, I missed food and over indulged. I brought myself back up to 185lbs in 7 months.
Fast forward I am still breastfeeding and it makes me crazy hungry. On top of that I am also donating milk to an adoptive baby. I feel like I am going to pass out when I don't eat. I am now down to 176lbs but feel as if I can't stay on track. I am working out daily and trying my hardest but I don't "see" progress" and I am starting to get discouraged.
I hired a personal trainer but he pretty much told me that unless I weaned my son not to expect to lose much weight. Weaning my baby before 2 really is not optional for me. But I don't want to be overweight either.
Anyone in the same boat? I hate feeling so discouraged. I don't even feel like myself anymore.

What a great thing you're doing donating your milk!
I've heard some ppl have trouble losing until they wean but by no means is that a blanket truth for everyone. I've lost 40lbs since having my baby 3.5 months ago. I started off netting 1350 a day, adding 500 for exclusive breastfeeding (so eating 1850) and eating back any exercise cals. Once I lost some weight I moved the net down to 1200. My supply is fine.
You want to eat an extra 500 for your own baby if you're exclusively breastfeeding. As for your donated milk, I think it's 20 cals an ounce but that's just off the top of my head and u might want to look up the exact number.
Pick a conservative amount of cals to net and see how it works for a while when it comes to your milk supply. If you're not losing and your supply is fine, lower it by a bit and see if there is a change. There must be a happy medium that allows you to lose weight yet keep your supply. Good luck!0 -
Not in the same boat but I definitely can relate. I had horrible food aversion for the first few months of my pregnancy, that I actually lost weight well into my 6th month. I gained it all back and then some by the time I gave birth, but it was all baby weight and I was 30lbs lighter than before I got pregnant. I was hoping to stay that size but breastfeeding definitely does make you hungry! You get carb attacks like crazy, and they actually tell you to eat at least 200-300 more calories to keep up with the milk supply. My daughter self weaned at 9 months and here I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight and very unhappy. (She's 10 months now and on formula.) I know there is a group here for breastfeeding moms that are trying to lose weight or keep the weight off, but IMO it didn't work for me, I had to wait until I was no longer breastfeeding. But feel free to add me and let's try to keep the weight off together. :happy:0

Let me say that when the baby starts solids, it's a LOT easier to lose, at least it was for me. Also, making milk for two babies takes a LOT of energy, lot of fuel and I get that starving feeling. I exclusively breastfed my twins, so I really do get that.
It's been over five years since I weaned my guys, but I understand how you're feeling. I'd love to be your friend and support you.
That's great on donating milk too, what a wonderful thing to do.0 -

Thanks ladies/mamas!
So far I am trying to eat 1600 calories a day. I have switched a lot of things to organic. No sodas, no fast food were my first goal. I started lifting weights but I have a very attached baby. I am a SAHM and he doesn't stay with strangers so it gives me a small window at nap time. >.<
I was going to do gluten free but I found that I like a half of a bagel during the day and I also eat sandwiches now where as before I ate burgers and fried chicken.0 -
Oh girl! I can so relate!
I am 5' 10" too and my littlest was 115...super skinny and not attractive. Then at my best I was 140...when I had my first I went through IVF and gained 80 lbs. I was 220 at my biggest...anyway...as you say, fast forward and I have had my second little one (without IVF) and she's 2 and I am not 165...still losing...I would love to be 150. Anyway, you're little one is still small. Eat if you are breastfeeding, that's important. If you can quit that would be great too. I breastfed for 1 year and it was a little celebration that I didn't have to do it anymore. I felt I could be a woman again and take care of myself and feel like I did before.
Girl, friend me up. I will support you and be here for you. It's a lot your going though, but you can do it girl!!0
