suggestions on using lentils

I am trying to incorporate lentils into my diet but I have NEVER eaten them before. What are some ways to prepare them and how often should I eat them? I know they are excellent protein but the taste isn't great. I need to spice them up somehow without adding to many calories.

I really like cooking them with Indian Spices. Im Indian, so we usually pressure cook the lentils and add a little curry powder with tomatoes and onions. Its quite healthy and tasty.0

Lentils are great! My favorite way is to make them like a pasta salad, only with lentils instead. I make a lemon vinaigrette and mix the lentils with some grape tomatoes, cucumbers, feta and fresh herbs. It's great0

I use them instead of beans in a lot of recipes (think chili, soup), My favorite thing about lentils is that I don't have to soak them overnight since I always seem to forget with beans.
