Today on TV I saw a brief interview with a woman who was writing a book or blog about the year she spent not looking in a mirror...even ONCE. Her husband would let her know if she had anything seriously out of place (ie spinach in teeth, a rogue hair or whatever) Beyond that, she did not look at herself at all. She claims she learned a lot, got more done, and learned to enjoy body parts that had previously bothered her.
What do you think it would be like, and would you ever try it (if realistic)

    i think we should be doing the opposite. vanity gets a bad rap, in my opinion.

    except instead of looking at our bodies with a critical eye when looking in the mirror (i.e. 'i want to change x, y, and z') looking and just saying 'damn i look good.'

    that's what i've been doing the past few years. does wonders for the self esteem!

    I roll out of bed every morning and into the gym without looking in the mirror-no one's supposed to look good at 4AM. However, if I were to do that any other time of day I'd scare people off with my hair.

    Nope. I love making faces at myself in the mirror. I'm a 5 year old trapped in a middle aged body.

    Ah she addressed this in the interview. Aside from basic avoidances, like not clothes shopping for that year, she said there's a big difference between glancing at a reflection in a glass window or public bathroom mirror and studying oneself the way we do
