Everything Tastes Salty!

Anyone else finding that as you eat healthier, you're more sensitive to sodium in your food? I've been eating clean for 9 days straight now, trying to consume very little processed or restaurant food, and I'm really starting to notice saltiness in different foods. Almost immediately, I noticed that cottage cheese tasted rather salty, and then this morning, I tried a new kind of bagel and got the same thing. When I checked my food diary, sure enough, those two items had the highest amounts of sodium of anything I consumed today.

Noticed that today myself. Went to Burger King (long story-but it was my best option) and got a Whopper, no cheese, no mayo. And it was very salty.

Yes it happens! I cut out salt in my diet I only eat between 1200-2000(really high day). I made my mom cook my food without salt because I cut it, sometimes she sneeks it in and all i taste is salt! Its funny how much your taste buds change! I used to eat salt, not out of the shaker but on margaritas, pretzels and such and salt my food like crazy and my fiance would go geeze! want some food with that!?
Also it great to wake up in the mornign n not be/feel bloated or look bloated!

I taste salt and sugar so I know exactically where you are coming from. It kind of puts into prespective how I have been eating up to this point.

I didn't even think about the sugar/natural sweetness of things! Greek yogurt practically tastes like ice cream now that I've eliminated the other stuff!

Ugh I know! I ate at Texas De Brazil this weekend and the meat was SO salty I could hardly stand it!

I am salt sensitive, so it is very good I'm developing a dislike for salty foods. My blood pressure is usually a little high when I go to the doctor, but when I went today (first time since starting my new eating habits) it was below normal! It's amazing how much eating healthy can change whats going on in your body!

I had that once I started cutting out processed foods and fast food. I almost never add salt when I cook.

I also found that, being away from the south for 4 years, I have lost my tolerance for sugar ... sweet tea is, most times, too much, I don't add much sugar when I have coffee, and I can't imagine eating even a tiny piece of pecan pie.

It all changes so quickly. I've only been back here for about 5 months and my 1-2 coffees a day habit is down to maybe once a week

For me, the worst is soups. I almost have to avoid them when I eat out because they are so so so so salty!

I've noticed the sugar more than the salt. I have been a diehard Pepsi/Mountain Dew girl since childhood. I drank a Pepsi the other day for the first time in more than a month, and it was like drinking sugar water!! Yuck.

I hope to lose my taste for salt some day. :-)

I am glad others are having the same experience. I am finding foods more salty than I used to since I changed my diet and lost weight. I guess this is normal. I do not need to add salt to anything these days.

It's really surprising how salty prepared and packaged food are now. There are things that never bothered me before but now make me pucker due to the sodium...and the sweetness. Prepared spaghetti sauce is something that I've noticed the most, I started canning my own tomatoes for sauce and the difference is dramatic.

I'm hypertensive so I have to watch my sodium intake very closely and also make sure I'm getting extra potassium if I do have a "salty" day. Having cut back on sodium has pretty much ruined going out for dinner for me...everything tastes overly salty. It's like they don't have any other spices in the spice rack or something.
