I need recommendations for healthy, good-tasting protein shakes. I need to supplement my protein intake per doctor orders. Thanks.

My current go to protein shake:
Peanut Butter and Blueberry Smoothie
.5 cup - So Delicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk (or regular milk, water, etc.)
1/2 - Frozen Banana
.5 cup - Frozen Blueberries
1 or 2 oz - Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt
1 TBS - Peanut Butter
1 scoop - ON Gold Standard Whey, French Vanilla Creme (great brand and GREAT flavor)
I suppose if you need less calories you could drop the peanut butter, but it's damn tasty!0 -
I don't drink them, but know a lot of people who do. They've all said the only one that tastes good (if you're looking for a mix) is the BSN brand, but only in the chocolate. They're available at most vitamin stores, I believe.
My husband likes the Isagenix IsaLean Shakes, but they're a little pricey. Good thing though is that they're designed to kick start weight loss, and my husband & others he's recommended it to (we do NOT sell it) got great results.

That's if you want mixes & not just make it yourself.
ADDED NOTE: My father-in-law was having trouble getting enough calories, especially protein in & the doctor recommended some drink from the grocery store, but when my husband sent him some of the IsaLean Shakes, the doctor looked at the ingredients & said it was better.0 -
Just in case you weren't aware of this feature, when you go to the message boards section, there is a button called search and you can type in a keyword/phrase (ex: protein shakes) and you can see the threads that have already been created on the topic. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

If you have a Whole Foods close by, I would go there and ask them about the different options.
I'm using a 365 Whey Protein in Chocolate. My favorite is one from Lifetime Fitness, but I don't remember the name. Sorry.
But I would second the idea of adding peanut butter to your shakes. It adds a lot of flavor and can mask the "protein" taste so many have.0 -
I love OH Yeah whey Protein. Its the best tasting!0
-
My fav -
1 banana
1 cup skim milk
3-4 strawberries
1-2 scoops whey protein
1/4-1/2 cup greek yogurt
you can add granola and flax or chia seeds0 -
Casein based protein drinks typically will taste better than whey based protein drinks. Of course there are mixes of both. Muscle milk is all casein, and optimum nutrition 100% is (as the name implies) all whey hydro and iso.
The best tasting protein by far hands down bar none if you are trying to go for a mix of fast and slow digesting aminos is:
Dymatize Elite Gourmet Chocolate Peanut Butter.0
