Pick eater

I have gotten only 2 spankings in my 20 years of life. Both because I refused to pick up my fork. I have had the hardest time losing weight because I am so picky. Does anyone have any good tips or recipes? I am just having the hardest time when it comes to food! Everything I like comes covered in chocolate or butter or grease!

I am also a very picky eater. I am slowly expanding what I eat by trying new foods when I decide to. One of my new favorite things to eat is Sea Cuisine potato crusted cod. It is only about 200 calories and it still has flavor from the minimal breading that is on it. I enjoy eating Shrimp Mezzaluna at Olive Garden. It is cheese ravioli with shrimp on it and it's delicious. I have made a similar meal at home. I still eat pizza, but I am eating more thin crust pizza and watching how much I eat. I also let myself have nutella crepes for breakfast on the weekend because you can't give up all the foods you love.

Last week I tried Chinese food and my fiance was shocked. I think just slowly introducing new foods (when I deem I'm ready) helps. I hate someone telling me to try something. I need to make that decision for myself. Hope that helps!
  • I'm on certain dietary restrictions, yet people think I'm picky. You just learn to deal with what you have.

If you really want to lose the weight, you'll not slather everything in butter or chocolate. Trust me, I want to, but I know it's not good for my health in the long run, nor will it help keep the weight off.

Cutting calories is what's helped me, and I don't restrict myself (except for the dietary restrictions, obviously). I still eat chocolate, Pizza, sweets, but in MODERATION.

And if you go over on your calories? work out a little harder, EARN that good food!

I am the same way. I am addicted to grapefruit ever since I forced myself to try it. However no matter how hard I try, I can't bring myself to do seafood. I eat a lot of chicken and have been trying to use crushed oats or healthy ceareals for bredding instead of shake and bake which seems to have more salt than the ocean itself! lol. I have gradually been trying new things but even still there are so few that I like, its hard to make dinner. Do you think by making smaller portions of foods I enjoy while still trying new and healthy items would be ok for my diet?

depends on what you are picky about. is it flavor? texture? smells? appearance?

i LOVE cooking and playing with new foods. if anyone wants a recipe here or there, PM me. i can't promise a lot of them, but going off your preferences, i'm sure i can figure out something for you to cook that you'll enjoy.

Smaller portions of what you like definitely works. Add foods as you start eating healthier at your own pace. You can do it!

I've done it and people are shocked at what I eat now (but there is still PLENTY of room for improvement).

Try skinnytaste.com and chocolatecoveredkatie.com They makes traditionally "unhealthy" meals a little healthier. Lots of great ideas.
