I am a 50 year old male. Live in NH and weigh about 370 pounds. Have been overweight my whole life but need to wake up at this stage of life if I want to see my 10 year old graduate in 7-8 years, go to college, get married, etc..... Also have two older children who are 22 and 25 and want to be around to see their successes as well.
I know doing is the key, not talking about it. Today is day one and the pizza the family ordered sure looked appealing BUT I had egg beaters and a pita bread with some fruit. I have to do what I have to do.
Any comments are welcome. Thank you.

Welcome to MFP, this is such a wonderful and welcoming community. I have only been a member for 2 week but have already dropped 12 lbs. Honestly I am a junk food addict and I love pizza, ice cream, cookies, all the bad for you stuff. Lean cuisine makes wonderful pizzas, you should try one of those next time. Not to mention 100 calorie packs of cookies and chips, weight watchers or skinny cow ice cream. You can have many of the foods you enjoy if you go about it in a smarter way. I have decided that this time around I would not be on a diet, I have made MFP my lifestyle. Just remember to log every little bite that goes in your mouth. If it goes in your body it counts whether you log it in or not, you need to be truthful to yourself and you will find success. Good luck on the start of your new life.0

Welcome and good luck!! Stick to that awesome self-control--pizza in the house is the worst! My secret weapon is using those pita breads to make a mini pizza for myself. =D Keep it up!!!0

Well you definitely seem to have yourself headed in the right direction...eating can sure be difficult when you are cooking seperate meals for your family and yourself. I have promised to take it one day at a time and not put pressure on myself with unrealistic goals. I too have been with MFP for almost 2 weeks and I find it an amazing help. The people are supportive and helpful and writing my goals and food diary each day has made me feel more accountable for my actions. Best of luck to you and keep up your positive outlook!0
