I need help. I don't know what I'm doing obviously because I'm still overweight. I don't know what kind of diet that works. Help.

    How often do you workout and what is your eating like?
  • My workouts are non existent. I am 22 years old. Maried, mother of one son (3). My eating habits arent the best. I don't really eat fast food very often but I do overeat.

  • The best thing this website will help you with is the overeating- stick to your calorie goal and I guarantee you will see results! Also, try cutting out some meats I went 80% vegetarian and saw results relatively quickly

    we all started like that.. just set a daily goal and stick to it.. then like in 2 weeks try some work out. walks maybe.

    Eat what you normally eat but just stick to your daily goal. That would be a good start. Then you can start having a look around. Trick is to find something that suits you. There are many people that lose weight without being on a diet in fact it is probably the best way to go. Just eat less for now and go for a walk :D

    When you are first starting out and have no real idea of how to get it done, you can get overwhelmed by the mass of information you get, and alot of it can be wrong! Although I am not claiming I am a know it all, I have successfully lost weight before getting injured. So I usually offer what works for me.

    Keep it simple (Keep your cals between 2000-2500 on a typical day)
    Cut the regular soda, sports drinks, juice drinks, etc (Empty calorie drinks loaded with sugar)
    Eat better (don't gotta cut out what you love, just moderate it and make it fit within your numbers for the day)
    Exercise (do what you can, walking 20 minutes a day is better than nothing)
    Don't make excuses (Too tired, don't have the time, etc.)
    Don't get discouraged (Because it WILL NOT happen overnight)
    ...that's a basic starter list that I can offer.

  • I suggest trying 'clean eating' if that's not accessible at this time then maybe cut back and substitute. I used to get really bad cravings at night for chocolate and sweets.. but I started eating 6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones and eating fruit throughout the day which helped with the craving for sweets. Also try low sodium and non processed foods.. too much sodium will cause your body to hold onto water weight.

    Track your calories and try to fit in more activity. There are no 'bad' foods if they fit in your calorie goal for the day. It gets easier as you go. Look at the Success forums to see examples of busy people just like you who started not knowing what to do and made awesome changes in their life.

    What can you eat?

    doesn't really matter.

    However, I would really invest in a food scale as my first priority. It will make sure you are counting the exact number of ounces of chicken, beef, steak, fish, etc. in your food choices.

    you'll have success is you can track properly

    the other trick is to find foods that dont leave you hungry in a couple of hours, getting plenty of protein will help.

    okay, one more, plan your snacks for the day, let's face it, most of us here are living with a calorie deficit so you're going to get hungry between meals, therefore don't be foolish and ignore the fact that you'll need some snacks or you'll just end up reaching for your old snacks, which probably weren't that healthy.

    you can try yogurt, nuts, fruits, veggies.
