Hello, I just heard about this site.. My husband and I are joining as we speak. I guess to sum it up, I am very athletic, I work out a lot and HARD!! The drawback is I eat a lot too.. Its weird, I have such good discipline in my workouts but none in my diet.. I eat what I want then KILL myself in my workouts and stress daily about my "extra flab". I have always had to watch myself but somehow managed to stay firm and in shape. I am pushing 40 now and it's starting to show. I just want to lose around 10 lbs and I will be happy with myself. My friends say I'm crazy and that I look great, but isn't it how you feel about yourself that matters? The facts are, my jeans are TIGHT!! actually screaming for relief lol and I refuse to just "accept the fact that I'm getting older"... I think that's the mentality that has gotten me where I am today.. and frankly, I'm not happy with myself today.... so to sum it up... I"m here for ME!!!! I am gonna get back to where I want to be... Who's with me???

so the reason why you are hungry and why your body craves for more food is your work out. Since I started working out I get more and more hungrier. This is your body telling you that it needs more food to keep you from "not" losing weight.
So the trick is to find food that is low in calories but will make you feel full. Fiber rich food and protein rich food is the best way for this. Sugar and carbs gives you a lot of calories and make you crave for more. So I eat fiber rich fruits and vegetables and I pack myself with chicken, fish, eggs, milk everyday and my craving for food goes away. But this was not easy at first. It took me months to get away from my bad habits to eating good food to lose weight. So if you have a cheat day or two ... don't be sad. Try the next day. I let myself cheat at least once a week to keep me from been bored with the healthy food. It's totally ok :)

I have lost 12 lbs over the past year trying this. I joined fitness pal recently and I'm trying to lose 20lbs to get to 120pounds ..... its tough .... and my friends also tell me that I look great and I don't have to do this .... but I want to do this for myself ... I feel I look better and since I lost my weight my back pain has reduced as well.

Good luck with your adventure :)
  • good for you to say to heck with getting older as an excuse to gain weight. As you probably already know as we age our metabolism slows down, so if you want to keep eating what you want you have to work out more or slowly cut back on your food intake and make healthier choices. I love using this program because if you enter your food intake and exercise honestly you can see exactly how much you can eat or have eaten. It really helps me to focus on what I put in my body. Good luck!

    I'm with you!!

As I get older (I'm 47 - ha! first time I've written that number!) I'm more interested in taking care of myself instead of taking care of everyone else (though I still have a healthy dose of that, too). My motto is "A Healthier Second Half" (of my life).

    Cheers!
  • I just started to use this website and I have the same issue too. Workouts are never a problem and I have great discipline with them. With the diet though - no discipline! Let's hope this website helps us get on track! Good work on making the first steps towards doing that!
